Wow, this was by far the best place to eat in Ushuaia. We were here for 3 nights and tried 3 different places and was by far the winner. Crab parmesan soup was excellent, full of crab, tasty and worth the price. Grilled salmon was a huge piece and well cooked. Obviously the cherry on the top the crab where... More

It can get crowded and service can be slow because the place is almost always full, but the food it worth it. We had lunch there both days we stayed in Ushuaia and would have probably come back again.

As soon as you walked in, you felt welcome. The waiter can speak enough English to explain how much we should order crab. We ordered crab soup which was delicious. We also ordered a king crab for two people which weighted about 1.5 kilogram. The crab was so good and we wished we could order two crabs, one each. With... More

Food is outstanding, service personnel goes out of their way to explain menu in their limited english. Downside very crowded, service very rush. No places to put your bags because table are very close together. As many of us are waiting to board the ship in the afternoon, we have backpacks or hand luggage with us.

The restaurant fills up quickly, so go early - they open at 1900. Adequate room between tables - better than at many other establishments. Noise levels reasonable. On first night we had King Crab in Parmesan sauce, and King Crab in Cantinas Tomato & Garlic. On second night we had excellent fried squid rings, and seafood & chicken paella. All... More

They have a large sculpture of a King Crab climbing the restaurant. There are King Crabs in the window tanks. You can get a whole or 1/2 King Crab. I got the "complete" king crab portion (400 pesos) which is the King Crab removed from the shell...no mess! My wife had the grilled Patagonian Trout (290 pesos). They also have... More

Our travel group decided to join our Chilean trip leader for the "best king crab" and we were not disappointed. Several folks had the parmesan king crab (very rich), but I opted for the king crab with spices and it was exquisite! The wine list was fairly small but reasonably priced and the service was very good despite the language... More

The place was packed and we were lucky to get a table at 9 p.m. Tiny restaurant with small staff working very hard. The food was fantastic - especially the crab and the seafood stew with Rice.

The thing to eat in Ushuaia is king crab (centolla) and the place to do it is here. Why? Because the cook it to perfection, the way such a fantastic fresh seafood deserves. Forget about starters, side dishes or fancy recipes: just order a fresh 'centolla' that is shortly cooked and served with a salad, lemon and mayonaise. Ask for... More

Eating king crab at La Cantina de freddy is a must. One, its difficult to find live king crab and second it even harder to prepare it without over cooking it. Freddy's does both excellently without any pretentiousness. I had a great beer and a huge crab and left satisfied. The only thing that would have made it better would... More
