Our second time here and bit was great as usual. The chicken cafreal is great! My absolute favorite Goan dish. Would also recommend the fish curry, fried prawns, masala fish and goan bread.

Having visited here several times over the past 18 years my holiday is never complete unless I've visited the Florentine. After visiting friends in Saligoa we decided to have dinner here as it was close and for some of our party it was their first visit to Goa but also their last night before moving on. We all ordered drinks... More

we went to florentine as i had been there a few years ago and remembered my good experience there. but this time we were sadly disappointed. i think they have used their fame to hike up their rates and reduce the portions. chonak masala fry of 2 regular pieces at Rs 350 was too expensive and even the preparation was... Nothing fancy but tasty food. Ordered vegetarian and chicken fry's portions and home made variation of creme caramel which all was very tasty and for European standards cheap. Atmosphere was similar to lunch places but service was quick and friendly. Many locals seem to visit here and not that many tourists.

If you are a foodie and love to try different cuisines, then Florentine offers the best of Goan cuisine. We went here for lunch based on the reviews and it was awesome! Chiecken cafreal and custard were the yummiest and are a must try dishes. Rightly priced, decent meal quantities with a hint of Portuguese spices makes it perfect!

We were there on 12th October. Know for its Cafreal chicken. This time we got underdone chicken. But masala was nice. Prawn curry was a disaster. We returned it. They just added raw chilli powder mix or wherever powder try use and some minuscule bits of prawn. Terrible. They did the same to the egg curry. The PAV was the... More

Go here for their signature dish the Chicken Cafreal, the rest is just an add on. A word of caution for the vegetarians, not many choices here :-).

Chicken carrel being their specialty , is a must try and accompanied with a chilled beer. The choice of sea food and the variety will make u want to call for everything that is on the menu.

Caetano D'Costa encountered Chicken Cafreal in the early 80s. At the time, he was working in the kitchen of the Mandovi Hotel in Panjim, under the tutelage of a senior chef, Caridade Alfonso. Caetano D'costa's parents had a tiny tavern in a bylane of Saligao, selling cashew and palm feni distilled by a relative. His mother added homemade snacks to go along with drinks, and the little tavern immediately became a hit with the motorcycle-pilots of the region who operated a local taxi service on their bikes. They brought their customers in increasing numbers. In 1985, the then 24 year old Mr.D'Costa left his job at the Mandovi Hotel and the tavern turned into Florentine. On its menu was Chicken Cafreal. Today, this richly aromatic, long-marinated fried chicken that's smothered in a spicy, coriander- heavy sauce is ubiquitous on restaurant menus across the state and widely known across the world as a signature Goan dish. But in fact, until the 1970's, Chicken Cafreal was unknown in Goa.
