We ate outdoors the first night in the charming garden and in the comfortable and well-decorated restaurant on the second visit. On both occasions the service was first-class and the food tasy and beautifully presented. Menus were classical French and reasonably priced. Good wine list and beers and mineral waters were also available at reasonable prices. It was perhaps significant... More

Excellent meal with all the accoutrements. Could not fault the food, duck with fruit sauce as the main course. Dining on the terrace gives a wonderful ambience though the dining rooms looked good as well. Wine list good.

On our way to the southwest of France we left Paris at around 4.30 on a Thursday in July and reached shortly before 8pm. We had a look at the Michelin Guide and found Bib Michelin recommendation L'Hermitage. In order to start our vacation with a pleasant dinner we reserved a room and a table just several days before arrival.... More

Usually has a good reputation, but our last visit we felt rushed with the main course being served immediately, and I mean, IMMEDIATELY after the starter. Disgraceful. I understand the management may have changed, but I have eaten here three times and not enjoyed any of my visits. However, other friends in the area rate the restaurant highly. It just... More

We stayed at the Chatea Boisrenault which had been recommended by friends, but its a bit shabby and rambling old place, think Adams family. Looking for somewhere to eat on a Saturday evening, our hostess suggested L'Hermitage. What a find? My wife and I had scallops (coquilles) to start in a paprika cream sauce, I'm not usually a fan of... More

Booked restaurant with another family as we were both staying at the same chateau nearby. Although not mentioned when booking we were told on arrival that one of the chefs was sick and that service would be slow and they could only offer the set menus, (this obviously did not apply to everyone as we noticed food from the rest... We have stayed at a Chateau just outside Buzancais on a number of occasions over the past years. The L'Hermitage is simply a delight. Set in beautiful gardens, situated just on the outskirts of the town in peaceful surroundings, it is tastefully decorated and popular with the locals. We had dinner here on two evenings. We were offered the choice... More

Buzancais is in the middle of nowhere, but this hotel and restaurant are well worth the visit. We arrived after a lovely visit to Bourges, and were entranced by the garden - full of flowers despite the heat. The dining room was packed, and clearly this little gem is well regarded by its local cognoscenti. Madame supervised the evening, and... More

We've stayed at L'Hermitage about five times now and have never been disappointed. The setting is just perfect, with gorgeous restful beautifully tended gardens and on a summer's evening to be able to eat outside is a real treat. The menu is imaginative, beautifully presented and crucially not very large ensuring that everything is freshly produced. Yes the loo in... More
