I’ve had a few enjoyable visits here in the past but, having recently dropped in for a spot of lunch, I would not be in a hurry to return. The menu sounds impressive with all the blurb about quality ingredients, with meat and game from the estate. However, our food was, at best, only mediocre and it wasn't cheap either.... More

Lovely setting and views, welcoming inside, we came for lunch, planning a long leisurely one... it was not to be! Menu on the back of paper table 'mat', sounded good. On the front all the blurb about where the local fresh produce comes from which sounded good including that you could ask the staff more about each dish/ food origin... More

I grew up with the 'Holk Vic' and had my wedding reception there in 1982 so I've seen some changes over the years but it remains a favourite. It just has that ambience of old money, class and local history that new money can never compete with. The views are spectacular; no 'Chelsea-on-Sea' pretentious atmosphere and setting but the Real... More

Always a lovely menu if you want to eat, friendly staff and atmosphere if you just want a refreshing drink after visiting the beach, beautiful rooms with lovely little finishing touches if you choose to stay the night.

As we were staying there, rather than dining out again we decided to eat in. We dined in the conservatory which tags itself to the main dining / breakfast area. Service was good - attentive although a little rushed between courses. If I'm dining I like to savour the event not squeeze in as much in as much as possible... More

On a Sunday afternoon the pub was busy but we found a seat. The service was quick and friendlyThe London Pride was well kept but expensive at £4.30/pint.Everything else was good value. The food was great and the chees board of 4 interesting cheeses was enough for two to share.

A two night break at an old favourite, two super meals, a table in the conservatory, we enjoyed the venison special and the pork, with a whitebait starter good but not great, and a black pudding scotch egg, delightful. The second evening scallops followed by lumb rump, and a rump steak the latter was good not great. Apple crumble and... More

The food was ok. But the front of house staff were to busy worrying about there social life and talking about them selves and didn't notice that are plates were clear for 15 minutes they didn't even ask us of we wanted deserts.

We always visit the Victoria several times on every visit to North Norfolk on a recent visit we were somewhat disappointed by the same old menu and quality of the food. The staff are brilliant, we visited three lunchtimes and we hope our next visits will be more interesting, it was like going to a Cote very disappointing.

Description
Standing at the gateway to Holkham and the National Nature Reserve, the Victoria is a classic English inn owned by the Coke family and managed by the Holkham estate. There are ten elegant bedrooms, the bar and dining rooms offer a relaxed blend of style and comfort. The “Vic” serves delicious locally sourced food, much of it grown and raised on the estate with a bold emphasis on freshness, simplicity and value. Holkham has been a leading agricultural estate since the 1800’s when Thomas William Coke bought the site and the young Queen Victoria elevated him to the peerage in recognition of his contribution to farming in 1837. The name of the proposed new inn must have been inevitable when it opened its doors in 1838. The Victoria re-opened in Spring 2013 following extensive refurbishment.
