Visited Staithes recently for a long weekend and booked in here for one evening and so glad we did. Only a small no of tables available so we'd recommend booking to make sure. Decent selection of wine and reasonable prices and while the menu is relatively small in choice, all of what we had was excellently cooked and tasted lovely.... More

My wife and I stayed in Staithes for one night having seen photos of the picturesque harbour online. We looked at the reviews on TripAdvisor for somewhere to eat and after much deliberation (most places in Staithes have good to excellent write ups) we chose Cleveland Corner. How glad we did! Much of the menu is Gluten Free (not an... More

Booked for four family members to eat here, three enthusiastic fish eaters and one not. I noted that Rob responded quickly and positively to my email enquiry, which is always encouraging, even with a vegan in our group! We were attracted by the intimate, quirky setting, interesting artwork on walls, and right in the centre of lovely Staithes. It is... More

The little shop by the footbridge in Staithes used to sell sweets, candyfloss etc. It has now been converted to a good class restaurant, serving very good freshly-cooked food. Service may be a bit leisurely as your order is prepared, but it will be worth the wait. There is a good wine list, including decent 'by-the-glass'. £61 for two people,... More

1. you're a posh bistro, I expect to be served food by someone in a shirt, not t shirt 2. I ask for a full bottle of wine, only to be told we can't take the remainder home, 10 paces, if that 3. place was freezing, if you have bookings, then pre heat 4. you need a bell that rings... More

To answer your comments 1. We do not advertise ourselves as a posh bistro. We purposely do not have table cloths etc and provide an informal dining option. As such expect our staff to be smart but not necessarily formally dressed. 2. Our license precludes us from selling alcohol to be consumed off the premises and if our staff had... More

We booked this restaurant after seeing all of the fab reviews on Trip Advisor and were really looking forward to it. We expected a quirky atmosphere, but it was a bit awkward to arrive on a dark autumn evening to very bright lighting (like a canteen). It wasn't the atmosphere we expected for an evening brasserie experience. The lack of... More

We're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your evening but wish you had given us the opportunity to address the issue on the night rather than waiting to give your feedback on the review site. We always strive to give the best service we can and welcome the opportunity to rectify any errors immediately to allow our customers... More

There's not a lot of room to stretch out in this tiny bistro and the service on the night we visited, while very friendly and willing, was a plainly a little inexperienced and nervous but it's all about the food - short menu using fresh local ingredients in dishes which demonstrate a fine appreciation of flavour and a willingness to... Apparently the chef here is self taught, well if that's the case who needs formal training?! Excellent fresh seafood, imaginatively cooked and very reasonably priced. Two courses and a nice red for 2 for £57.

We decided to eat here for our anniversary meal after researching on Trip Advisor! We weren't disappointed, a quirky little restaurant that only seats 14 in total so would recommend booking as people were turned away on the evening! We received a warm welcome and all our needs were met, my husband chose the ham hock to start followed by... More

Intimate, characterful food haunt situated in a wonderful location within the glorious seaside fishing village of Staithes. After a fortnight holidaying there we were ready for something above and beyond the standard pub fare of the Cod & Lobster & The Royal George (not a criticism) and The Bistro delivered! The bouillabaisse starter with delicious crusty bread was simply delicious,... More

Sharon & Rob welcome you to Cleveland Corner - a cosy 16 seater bistro, with art covered walls, housed in a 250 year old fisherman's cottage in the heart of picturesque Staithes. Being so close to the sea our daily specials board leans heavily towards fish but we still cater to the meat eater & vegetarian alike and have the ability to adapt to most dietary requirements. We take pride that the majority of our ingredients are sourced within North Yorkshire including our organic beer & all our meat & fish is from the village. Passionate in providing an atmosphere that showcases the food we believe so strongly in. We hope you enjoy your visit in every way.
