Many visits here over the years have proved the place to be reliable and consistent. Sit in the more formal restaurant or relax on the sofas and enjoy a coffee or snack. Our favourite is the creamy and fabulously tasty Cullen Skink, bursting with smoked...More

Returned here after a good while away and was delighted to find that things hadn't changed. Service was still great and our reserved table was ready. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and if you are fortunate enough to get a window table you...More

We visited The Shieling during a 108 mile cycle around the Gairloch coast. Donald and his team could not have been more accommodating and the bacon rolls were fantastic - just what a bunch of hungry cyclists were after.

We dined last night thu 5 jul and had a very good meal. Old fashioned prawn cocktail to start was delicious and plentiful followed by scampi and chips. The fattest scampi’s I’ve seen for a while. Beautifully cooked - all fresh. Husband and daughter took...More

Decided to go for the battered scampi, but it was very disappointing. It didn't say it was 'homemade' but with so many homemade items on the menu I was expecting something a bit better. He had a Crofters Pie was was quite good. We shared...More

Our table of six had a mixed reaction to this restaurant. The staff were welcoming and friendly but one was perhaps still learning. You would think he should have known or have been told that Chianti was a wine on the wine list but perhaps...More

Thank you for your review. We only have 1 male waiter as from 3 weeks ago and he’s only 15 and everybody comments how welcoming and helpful he is but he’s probably never heard of Chianti . Glad you enjoyed your meal .

We had morning coffee here, the staff were very accommodating, we settled into the very comfy armchairs and couches. As we were leaving the restaurant was filling up, menu looked good.
