During our stay in Church Stretton we had dinner at three different places, this was the first. We were recommended this restaurant by our host at the B&B. When exploring the menu we opted for the 'grazing' option where you can choose 4 out of...More

I have previously visited Housmans but it was a little while ago. I remembered the amazing Grazing menu and decided to drop in for a lunch date after a walk but the Long Mynd. Once again I was not disappointed. There were 2 members of...More

We stayed in Church Stretton for 3 nights and ate in a different restaurant each evening. We chose Housmans our first evening and it was easily the best. In common with many restaurants it was a bit noisy due to the hard surfaces and unnecessary...More

Food pleasant, if 'fully' priced. Told the waitress that the glass of Rioja (at least that's what I ordered) was quite the most disgusting glass of wine I have tasted in a very long time. 'Oh dear' was the response and that was as far...More

Had an enjoyable meal, with plenty of choice. Very busy on a Friday evening, so booking probably advisable.

We went as a group to Houseman's. The staff were friendly. The tasting menu was OK, mussels a bit overcooked, and aubergines. The unfortunate aspect was that during the meal a singer started performing, with loud amplification. We saw a family group move further away,...More

We visited Housemans on a Friday evening, having booked well in advance. On arriving, we were shown to what appeared to be a temporary table right in the traffic flow by the bar. With a couple sitting at the next table there wasn't room for...More

Sunday dinner. We went for their roasts, lovely quality meat and generous portion, but veg accompaniment was a bit odd - aubergine with beef anyone?OK for a one off on holiday, but not something to make a habit of.

Thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the beef but are somewhat mystified by your reference to aubergines; we do not and would not serve aubergines with our roasts.....

The staff were welcoming and friendly, explaining how the tapas menu worked. The food was excellent, something a little different, fantastic alternative to traditional Sunday lunch. The environment was rustic but beautifully clean and appealing to all ages. Everything you'd expect from good quality pub...More

We went for a family meal on Thursday evening. We ordered drinks to start, my daughters asked for coke but unfortunately it was so watered down it didn't taste of anything. I ordered a medium size glass of rose wine on ice. I struggle to...More

I'm sorry but I can only confirm my previous response. We do to serve aubergines with the roast, which typically come with cauliflower cheese, carrots & green beans as well as roast potatoes. I will happily post photos or... More

Informal style restaurant & bar with an a la carte menu changed three times on average each week, together with a selection of tapas style grazing boards.
Wherever possible local fresh ingredients are used and we buy our meat from local butchers.
