We have been dining at The Captains Table multiple times each year for the past 8 years and it remains our favourite restaurant in Barmouth. The food is consistently excellent with a wide a varied menu to suit most tastes. The service is also excellent, so too are the local bottled ales they now serve. A definite if you are... More

1st visit to this part of the world and stumbled across this little treasure!!! Food was delicious, I had goats cheese tart on a bed of salad and a side of chips, hubby had the medallion of pork with red currants and a side of fresh veg and potatoes, finished off with the gorgeous meringue/icecream with cherries , all washed... Looking for a table for four without pre-booking can lead to lots of walking around but The Captains table, though busy still managed to fit us in. As the caption says, "quite cozy without being cramped". They have a fairly good menu and wine list. The food we had was very good, well cooked, well presented and very tasty. The... More

We paused here for some food on a busy Friday night having been turned away from 3 others. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I had the steak. And calamari to start, wish we were there again as would love to try more of their fish dishes. But a great mix of food if... More

We loved the meal and the service. The Brie and mango parcels for starters were lovely and something we'd never had before. The service was also very friendly and the local guest ales were a bonus. Thank you!

This restaurant so lacks character and it always annoys me when candles are put on the table but not lit! The service was quite poor as we had to ask for cutlery and serviettes which should have been on the table prior to our meal arriving. Having said that, the food was very good. We had the lamb shank and... More

We throughly enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. My husband and I both had the chicken and it was superb. We pre-booked and that would be my advice to diners. Would definitely recommend.

After reading other reviews we decided to eat here whilst visiting Barmouth, well we wished we hadn't bothered. A complete waste of money. The place wasn't exactly clean, there were dead flies on the window and it didn't smell very fresh in there. The food wasn't fresh and was clearly warmed up frozen food. My dish of duck served on...
