What a place, we arrived hungry and knackered after a spectacular walk to Table Mountain, the pub welcomed the whole genre of customers, hungry walkers, christmas party's, cream tea lovers and pint and crisp people. The staff were warm and welcoming and the menu was...More

What an absolute delight the Bear Hotel is. An oldy worldy pub that is so cosy and welcoming. We popped in for lunch one afternoon and were one of the first to arrive so cosied up by the fire. There is a considerable choice of...More

Full of old people and dogs. Which is a good thing. Cracking open fire. An abundance of lovely lilting Welsh accents. Good service. Tables a bit cramped so you can hear the inconsequential nonsense the other people in the bar are blathering on about.

A much welcome relief after a cold night camping in the Brecon Beacons! We visited for lunch on Remembrance Sunday so there were understandably lots of people crowded around the bar, we were however shown straight to our table (comfortably sized for three people) by...More

we booked a table for a lunchtime but were told you can only book at 12.30, as "other customers get upset at empty tables". they are clearly not interested in new customers and were rude and inflexible on the phone. we wont bother again.

We were glad to find this little gem when looking for late evening food on a Sunday. The staff are wonderful, the food plentiful and delicious and the place is huge but feels very quaint and country pub like. Try the Panetone bread and butter...More

Really enjoyed our meal here, and was mighty impressed with the menu - numbers of items, variety, choice and quality - 19 starters, 29 main courses, and 15 puds inc. specials - amazing. Sadly, I called this place tired last time I visited, and now...More

Stopped for lunch at the Bear when passing through Crickhowell yesterday. Lovely pub with parking and warm, friendly welcome. Sat beside roaring fire and had Welsh Rarebit. My husband tried a local Welsh beer which he liked a lot. Very traditional atmosphere and great service.

This a great pub and very traditional n a welsh way. We were only coming for one night but ended up going three nights in a row. Nearly became locals. The fish pie with seasonal vegs was to die for. Make sure you eat here.
