I have a soft spot for the travellers rest. It's small inside and has a good outside space too. Its a delightful place to stop after a day's walking in the beautiful fells. The spaces are nice and comfy, staff are friendly and helpful, the...More

I came to this pub after a long hard walk up Helvylen in the heat and it not only sold fantastic real ale from the local area the pub itself was lovely, decor inside would make it warming in the winter and the garden area...More

We spotted the signs for the travellers rest on our recent visit to Ullswater and decided to take a look. It's a short walk away from the lake and nestled in a bend in the lane past a row of pretty holiday cottages and a...More

Where to even begin with the horrific food served at this so called traditional pub. So me and my girlfriend were camping not far from this pub and decided to go there for tea on our first night . BIG MISTAKE. I ordered the burger...More

Usually very good and welcoming service, depends who is behind the bar. Arrived early afternoon to be told "no food until four o'clock" despite the "Food served all day" sign outside. Halfway through my first pint I saw someone at the bar getting a sandwich!...More

Two of us visited the Travellers Rest and had a lacklustre time. I had the Travellers Beef Burger which was a cheap, poor quality frozen burger served in a nice fresh bun with frozen chips as a side and was extremely disappointed especially with the...More

Off the beaten track but a true traditional pub with cosy bar area. Good food and dog friendly. Thanks

Stopped here for a drink and a snack, sea food platter for two was delicious. Salads looked amazing, lots of outdoor seating and once again the dog was welcome. View of the hills in the background, definatly going back before we go home.

I visited the inn on the hill, have popped in for an ale or two in past. On Saturday 25/7/2015 during a weekend visit to Patterdale , I had a nice lunch of cheese & tomato sandwich with coleslaw and salad and couple of pints of IPA. The lady who took my order was very helpful and very polite!
