There is nothing negative to say about this place, a true hidden gem, new menu daily and food to literally die for, want Michelin star food without the price tag, then this is your place, the only draw back it's at the end of a long road so have a nominated driver or be prepared to pay for a taxi... Having been sailing all day, The Whitehouse in Lochaline was a more than welcome sight. The service was of the best only to be out done by the quality of the meal. My cold smoked venison starter followed by a sirloin, beef shin with mushroom main was to die for. Where else do you get a shot of malt served... More

Just had lunch - large piece of delicious halibut cooked to perfection. Flaked away nicely & melted in the mouth. Scallops - hand dived - also perfectly cooked. Other had rare pigeon - so often overcooked - not this one. Great to know we were eating local produce & quality & taste couldn't be faulted. Don't miss out - highly... More

A group of us were staying locally whilst diving in the sound and on our last night we had a meal at the Whitehouse. The food was fabulous. The main course I chose was rack of Lamb; this just melted in the mouth and the taste was scrumptious. well worth a visit if you find yourself near or in Lochaline.

Wow what a find, the White House tucked away in a small village Lochaline, on the Morvern Penninsula. We sailed from Ardfern and tied up at about 17:00pm, went for a walk and found the local social club which was extremely welcoming, filled with very amusing locals, thank you, especially Big John Lochaline. On entering the White House I knew... More

Oh dear - we definitely saved the best 'til last on our recent holiday, If we'd visited sooner, we'd have come more often. This is in a very unpretentious building next to the village shop but don't let that fool you!! My friend and I turned up without a reservation for lunch, and thankfully it wasn't too busy and they... More

Spent an evening here at the end a couple of week's walking in the area with friends who had visited before. Small, nice friendly staff and a menu of stunningly good food that I would (did in this case) cross an ocean for. All fresh, local ingredients cooked with care and flair ... and at very reasonable prices. Perhaps one... More

Honestly this was one of the best meals of my life. Spicy mussels, divine duck, melt-in-mouth halibut - with wonderfully complicated flavours but beautifully simple presentation. Sumptuous desserts. Fabulously fresh local ingredients. Unpretentious decor and quietly efficient service. I couldn't recommend more highly.

My wife and I chose this as we were staying very close by at Willow Brae (awesome B&B btw). This is within walking distance of Willow Brae and torches were provided. We arrived early, they were happy to seat us. The menu you can tell changes daily as its on a chalk board they bring to the table. We had... More

Description
The Whitehouse Restaurant in Lochaline makes the most of the West Coast larder on our doorstep. Lochaline langoustines and Sound of Mull dived scallops and crab are regulars, as are Seared Morvern stag's liver, heart and kidney with Tobermory whisky, lamb, mutton, beef and pork from local farmers.
Our garden grows most of the herbs, salads and vegetables on the menu. Highland delicacies are foraged from hill and shore. We love celebrating Scottish food and drink - our fabulous local harvest served in a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The Lochaber environment is among the richest in Scotland. Our food puts it on your plate.
