Run in, run out, eat hearty! The Calabrese is tasty; hot, spicy, and fennel-y too. Great with or without sauerkraut or onions; I had two! Lots of mustard choices; if I could have eaten three, I could have tried more. Alas.

Right around the corner fm where we stayed. Unexpected find that turned out to be a fun place with smart staff. The bratwurst was as good as you get anywhere. Appears there's a loyal following of regulars for good reason. We'll be back when in town.

Top Dog serves delicious hotdogs. We chose the first option on the list. It was yum. Dog is succulent in the inside and almost crunchy on the outside. Nice texture. Bread is nicely toasted too. Delicious. The outlet offers sauerkraut and pickles as part of the condiments too

We were exploring rainy Berkeley and needed a quick treat - I have lived in Germany for a while before so I was keen to get some bratwurst, so we gave Top Dog a try. We were certainly not disappointed, I loved their selection (bratwurst, bockwurst, kielbasa, franks etc etc.) and also vast availability of my beloved sauerkrat! Also you... More

I started coming here in the 80's. This place is definitely a fixture in Berkeley. The hot dogs have not changed in taste and how it is cooked. I am amazed how the cook/cashier/server can remember everyone's order. The place is small, but don't let that stop you from giving Top Dog a try. My favorite is the Kielbasa. Yum!... More

The next time you're heading to Berkeley, California stop off at top dog. It was the best hotdog I've ever tried. The uniqueness of how the dogs are grilled and the type of bread they use instead of a bun makes for a very delicious hot dog.

The best dogs anywhere. Hands down... the best anywhere. No frills... they are the best. Don't forget to tip the doggie maker

Always busy with good reason, this is the best place to get hot dogs. It's very small and there's not really anywhere to hang around so it's always busy outside. Deffo a great stop when you're in Berkeley!

I've been going to top dog for over 30 years. This is not a sitdown restaurant; it's a stand up hot dog joint. They have several different types of hotdogs, But my favorite is the garlic a.k.a. the German. I like it with hot Russian mustard and sauerkraut. With chips and a drink, it makes a complete meal, And the... More

There is no better hot dog (rather sausage) joint (and it is a joint with no seating) in country. Perennially represents the California Golden Bears in the "Best Of" college campus contests. Atmosphere of the place is the same as when it opened in the 60's and when I was a 2AM regular in the '79-'83 era. In fact I... More
