Older and a pleasant surprise. Menu was fantastic. Food was prepared wonderfully. Only negative was being upsold to a dinner portion of the Sea Bass & getting more rice but being charged more than double the price. Left us disappointed in the experience. I would return & love being a Landry's member.

After spending a week in the area, we ate here 3 times! All appetizers were great! Good drink selection. Daily specials, definitely go on Tuesdays for fish tacos, you'll thank me! My party of 4 tried several different dinners and was very pleased. Service is slightly better in the dinning room. Will visit again if in the area!

Spengers has been around forever and they make you wait forever for service. Not the first time either. But you have to love the place for its old authenticity and history. As to the food, it's average. Calamari was decent, if not a bit overbreaded. The tuna melt was not served warm as it should be. Cheese was barely melted... More

New owner, service slow but staff was friendly. Salad and soup was great. Lobster bisque was fabulous. Quality and freshness is the same.

Spengers (currently part of the Landrys restaurant group) has been in business for decades and for a good reason - it's excellent fish dishes! This restaurant has several heart-healthy grilled fish selections now such as succulent king salmon, atlantic, seabass, ahi, rockfish, as well as scrumptious cioppino and crab entrée choices. This visit we tried Spenger's king salmon and atlantic... More

I've lived in the bay area for 13 years. This is my 5th visit to this disappointing spot. The last time I went my husband wouldn't stay past the drink order. He thought it was dirty and the service staff not only slow but rude. That was probably about a year ago. My friends were shopping on 4th Street downtown... More

I go once a year for lunch with a friend who loves Spengers. It is definitely an old school seafood restaurant. The food is OK... not bad, not great. Dark wood, booths, quiet. Good place for a business lunch if the description fits the style of the person you are meeting. Free parking with validation in the lot across the... More

I went to Spenger's for many decades. I met folks there for work and for socializing. The food is always better than average and fresh. This is a veritable fixture in Berkeley and one you just cannot miss if you are a tourist. Spenders predates the 4th Street shopping area by decades, although Bette's Diner is another fixture. The train... More

Had a pleasant evening here with friends, but my daughter - who is a vegetarian - was very disappointed. She had looked at the menu on the restaurant's website and was sure that there would be a few acceptable options for her, but she found the actual menu to be completely different. The waiter said the website had not been... More

Went for dinner with my daughter starting at Cal. I read the previous "up & down" reviews, but figured to go with an open mind. Spenger's is a "McCormick & Schmick's" affiliate so your Landry's Select Club card is good. I made a reservation and identified myself as such. The service from reception to our waiter was very attentive and... More
