We had to go to the back room to be served. It was an awkward, cold setting. Only two tables were taken out of 10 or so. There was no one to seat or greet us, so the three of us took a table. After sitting there for 10 minutes and studying the menu, no one came over even though... More

The front part has pasties and coffee and is worth just doing a drive by and the back has sort of a street Paris feel with the awning, and i had a Rueben that was surprisingly good and my GF had the blinzes which i would try at Saul's instead

I arrived around the switch from breakfast to lunch, around 11 am. The coffee and pastry side of the house was busy, but the restaurant side was pretty sparse. As a first time patron, I accidentally sat in a spot that was not quite inside the "dining" area proper - it was right in front of the kitchen / bar... More

We were here after a show for some tea and coffee. The drinks were good though a bit pricey. That staff is efficient, but not particular friendly. It was fine, but nothing to write home about.

I ate here 3 times while I was in the area (there aren't many choices for breakfast). Once for dinner and twice for breakfast. The front of the place a coffee bistro with some pretty yummy-looking pastries. The full-service restaurant is located in the back. Their menu features a wide variety of items, including sandwiches. I opted for a tuna... More

It's great to have such a nice cafe available for the nights when the night owl in me can't shut down. Store provides variety of pastries to satisfy one's sweet tooth.

Inside, the room gives off an outdoor patio feel, which was welcome on a hot summer day. Our meal was very average, but we ordered desserts to go and those were excellent.

If you're seeing a play at Berkeley Rep and want to catch a quick, easy, and delicious meal, I would highly recommend Au Coquelet. The quiche lorraine with side salad was more than adequate for lunch, and despite the French sounding name, this restaurant's menu also includes a variety of Mexican-style dishes as well as burgers (with Niman Ranch beef).... On our way to a concert at Freight & Salvage, we happened across the side door of this joint. We wound up walking around to the University entrance which leads to the coffeehouse. It led us back to the rear for the eatery. Very much a pleasant, homelike, locals kind of eatery. Good choices of burgers, sandwiches, soups & salads... More
