Wasn't sure about cooking my own steak but I did it and it was fun and great tasting. I'll be back on my next trip.

You can either order off the menu and have them cook or you can choose from a selection of steaks, chicken, or fish. Most were grilling steaks. We ordered steak and chicken and grilled it ourselves on the grill near the salad bar. All you can eat Salad and baked potato as well as ranch beans. We had a great... More

The Palms has been in Carpinteria for a long time; the thing that makes it stand out is you can pick out a steak, etc, and if you wish, can cook it yourself over the fire. If that isn't your thing, just order it cooked. Try the awesome coconut shimp...you won't be disappointed. Fun with a group.

Have been going here for decades. Opens for dinner at 5 PM. (Bar is open earlier). Often have to wait for an open table, as it's a very popular place for locals and beach visitors. You can have a meal cooked and served to you, but the big draw is to choose what cut of meat you want. The server... More

Very strange place. You literally cook your own meat on centrally located grills. If I was great at cooking my own meat, why wouldn't I just stay home? It has a salad bar, baked potatoes and all the trimming. I didn't think it was worth the price. Luckily, my brother grilled our steaks, fish and chicken and he is a... More

I've been here the 2nd time now, and it's always nice. The rooms are clean and spacious. A Irish Pub next by as well the Ralph's super market and other restaurants close by makes it a convenient location. However, this time was some construction ongoing as the hotel does expand their services and rooms. The only bad things at this... More

This is our second visit. The first time was years ago and I was disappointed. Cook your own steak? What is that about. I think you have to be prepared and in the mood. This time we came for dinner about 5:30PM and the place was already filling up. Take time to read the specials board as you walk in... More
