I've been to 2 Din Tai Fung's- one in Shanghai and this one in Costa Mesa. Both are good, but my favorite is easily this one in Costa Mesa. The food is delicious and a work of art. We like all of the dumplings, especially...the soup dumplings. Also the cucumbers. There's a reason it can be hard to get a table here sometimes- it's really good!More

Pros: - the best dumplings and Xiao Long Bao I've had - fast and attentive service (once you've made it in...see cons) - transparency on how food is prepared as the kitchen is visible due to it being displayed behind a big glass wall -...staff at check-in is aware of the popularity of the restaurant and handles impatient people well, someone tried to cut in line but they got ignored despite clearly having been noticed by the staff and they attended to us Cons: - long wait times (2.5h this time) but they will text you 15 minutes before seating you so you are free to roam around the mall - weird way of tracking customers who are waiting to be seated. We checked in and were given a menu while we waited to be seated. A couple minutes later I get another text that our table was about to be given away due to "no show". I walked up to the very same staff who just checked me in minutes prior and they wanted to know who the 2nd person of my party was. I pointed to my girlfriend (not sure why this even matters) and they asked if she changed her clothing because they don't "recognize" her. I explained she changed into something warmer and offered them to have her change back temporarily to "prove" that we are the party who checked in (again, why does this even matter). I suggest to management to have customers be called by their name as it is listed on the menu when you check in and then their party gets seated no matter what clothes they are wearing at the time. - can get noisy as they frequently have large groups living it upMore

Great place to get dumplings and soup dumplings. We had the cucumber salad which was great and a variety of dumplings you really can’t go wrong, only issue was it’s not spicy enough and they really don’t offer anything that is spicy.

Service was very good. No complaints there. However, we had heard several times how good the food was. Started with sticky pork ribs. Tough, sugary and mainly bone. Had 5 types of Dim Sum, ok, filling was sparse and 2 had little flavor at all....Dessert was the hot chocolate bun. Good but again, mainly bun and undercooked. I'm comparing this food to world renowned Dim Sum restaurants in Hong Kong and the San Gabriel Valley of California. Not only are these restaurants cheaper but you're not hungry when you walk out. For the cost, Din Tai Fung should have been top shelf.More

Great location! Excellent food! Exceptional quality! Array of choices! Very impressed with this restaurant and the delicious food. It’s a little in the expensive side but worth every penny!

Ok, so maybe by the time this gets posted I will be the 500th review, but a place so good it someplace that I have to at least write a few lines about. Great service, great food, super location and an overall feeling of a...well paced and satisfying meal. Went at around 12 just as they opened up so the wait was not to long. Would do the Yelp reservation system if I wanted to come during a super busy time.More

Finally was able to get into this restaurant, always busy! Worth the wait, had cucumber appetizers, crispy and sweet flavor. Traditional potstickers were savory and crispy. Beef broth soup has excellent cooked noodles. The best are the signature dumplings, that have soup and meat inside!...What a treat!More

This is one of the satellite restaurant off the original chain based out of Shanghai, China. This Costa Mesa location was bustling, with continuous, long wait lines. The mall location was advantageous since it allows for one to sign in and then do a carefree...shopping spree before being texted for their seatings. Oh, their popular, signature dishes include shrimp and pork dumplings and shao mai, and wontons. Their sauced noodles with mustard greens and shredded pork was also very good.More

We had heard a lot about Dintai Fung and the different kinds of alternative food offered. We were not disappointed. All the different kinds of plates we ordered were at least very good and considering the rapid service and the fair prices then you have...a very good place to enjoy Chinese food. We were there the night of the Oscars and almost at closing time so we did not have to wait for a table but we had been warned that the waiting time for a table may excced an hour.More

There are great vegetable dishes like the green beans. I am not aware of what other gluten free choices they have.
