If you are in the Encinitas area, ever, you need to make a stop to Juanitas Taco Shop. This restaurant is totally unassuming from the outside, and for most would probably be considered a "dive" (don't mind the bars on the window), but aren't those always the best places to eat? We went here multiple times during our week long... More

We were looking for Tacos and came upon this shop. Its a small mom and pop Mexican food joint. They have amazing Taco's and Burritos. Taste was very authentic Mexican.

Juanitas taco shop is about as authentic as you can get. Small, crowded, but good Mexican food. The fish plate is good and you can make your own tacos with the food provided. Authentic sodas and juices. They speak English, too.

I stopped for a couple tacos, one carnitas and one carne asada. The carne asada taco was decent, the carnitas was excellent, much better in my opinion. The girl who took my order was friendly and polite, and another gentleman behind the counter was also friendly and engaging with another customer. Not a fancy place, but the food was good... More

Our annual trip to San Diego wouldn't be complete without a stop at Juanitas. Some local friends showed us this treasure a few years ago and now whenever we are in town this has become a must stop. Not a pretty place by any stretch of the imagination but as authentic as it gets when it comes to Southern California... More

Just made it back to Juanitas for the fist time in years. I use to live in Encinitas and ate at Juanitas at least a couple of times a week. Bar none, it is the best carne asada burrito of any taco shop that I have ever been to. When I left Encinitas 25 years ago, I knew there would... More

Local, local, local. If you want good, local, authentic Mexican food, try Juanitas! Good service, good food. I like the plates as there are beans, rice and lettuce, and I make my own "tacos" from the variety on my plate. The atmosphere is questionable, and there is "indoor" and a picnic table outside to sit and eat. Located in Leucadia... More

We brought some visitors from the midwest here so they could see what real San Diego style Mexican food is like. They were completely confused by the menu which was a good sign. In the end, they loved it (as we do), and are as hooked on Juanita's as we are.
