Foster City has numerous Asian restaurants, and Joy, while in a somewhat quiet location, has been in existence for many years, which is a sign that it's respected. I have enjoyed their food, so for a quiet dinner, it's great. Gets crowded for lunch.

If you happen to be in the Foster City area and want some inexpensive xiao long bao, go to Joy restaurant. Went there on a Friday night and ended up sharing a table with a family of three . Not bad since there were no other tables available for couples and we didn't order a lot of dishes. We only... More

I do not like rating places I am unhappy with but I am compelled in this case. I have been to Joy about 5 or 6 times now. Every time, the food quality has always been good, fresh, nicely flavored. I would go for the food but don't go if you expect welcoming quality service. If you go with a... More

Really too bad this restaurant is not what it used to be. This restaurant used to serve wonderful Taiwanese / Chinese food. The restaurant had been around probably 20 years and the owner must be tired of it and it shows. We used to come here all the time and were friendly with the owner. We quit coming for 8... More

They have the special weekend brunch menu of soy bean milk and Yuo Teo (chinese donut) which I go back for. They also have very good braised beef hand cut noodle in soup and rice noodle with cabbage. If you like stinky tofu, they serve it fried or steamed. It my usual go to place for chinese brunch.

I went with my son for a quick lunch. We ordered two dished and both were below their usual standard. The Shanghai soup dumpling was particularly disappointing as it was dry and contain little juice inside. I think their dinner menu is much better.

Make sure you order their potstickers. And make sure you order right after you are seated. It takes at least 20 mins for them to cook it. Other than that, their food is a tag above average. Their service at times can be very slow. The place is not the cleanest. It's the potstickers that make me keep going back.

Food quality here tends to range from good to excellent! The Kung Pao chicken, Thousand layer pancake, half roasted duck and salt and pepper jumbo prawns are terrific! On the downside best to stick with pick-up because the servers have very limited English and service can sometimes border on typical rude behavior.

"Joy" has incredible variety, but cannot always back it up with quality. Now, if you are visitor from a place which is Chinese food-challenged (I mean authentic one, not Chop Suey, if it still exists), then "Joy" may, in fact, be a good choice, since it has a lot of Shanghai/Taiwan/WuXi dishes, as it can be your single-stop destination. But... More

We live quite close to this restaurant and get take out regularly. The most important thing you need to know is, "don't miss the pot stickers!" Actually, when they hand you the menu, just order them before you look at anything else! Despite a prior review, I do not find the staff rude. This is a family operation - the... More
