Five food and wine friends meeting for lunch and we were happy. Good food, good wine, very friendly and attentive service, and of course, good company. Two of our friends are frequent visitors here and did all the ordering. Fav dishes included some sort of savory Japanese egg omelet, tempura scallops and shrimp and veggies, sea eel tempura, and udon... More

The white soba, seiro, is fantastic. The seiro is why we go to Otafuku. Delicately flavored with a smooth texture, it is delicious.

Lunch is limited to typical "sobaya" menu but dinner menu? Izaka-ya dishes and Good selection of nihonsyu=sake and shocyu. My noodle of choice is Seiro. I'll always order "Hako Uni" and steamed awabi to start with. Cold ume seiro I sprit for shime or start. I wish you could try all what they offer for the season! Sunday closed.

Delicious handmade soba and udon, definitely one the best I had in the area, but the price is rather high considering the portions are not exactly American sized.

Visited here with work colleagues while in town on business. The food is definitely good and not at all Americanized so I would recommend to anybody seeking authentic Japanese food. The one thing that left a sour taste was the staff. We paid the check and left a 10 percent tip. On our way to the car park our waitress... More

I came back to OTAFUKU for lunch with one of family members of KAWADA HOTEL(downtown L.A.) since it takes only 10 minutes via 110 freeway around 11:30am from downtown. I ordered great SOBA and he ordered KATSUDON(Breaded pork cutlet boiled in egg+soy source over rice). Taste great and huge portion! to satisfy American stomach. Price is vvvvvery reasonable, even too... More

We wanted to try something different than the regular menu at an "American" Japanese restaurant. This restaurant is a "Japanese" Japanese restaurnt. By that, I mean that there are dishes on this menu that are much more authentic to the actual country, and items that you won't find on a more Americanized place. Let me warn you, although the food... More

The only one thing everybody have problem about OTAFUKU is, they have THE smallest signboard in the world(maybe). So unless you go there 3-4times/month, you always miss this place. AND can you believe, yet this place is ALWAYS full of local/visiting Japanese!? Our staffs said over OTAFUKU cooking 1) Yes, this is made by mother whichever, TOKYO or rural area!?!?... More
