Wandering around town upon arrival, we sought out Café Capistrano because of its great TA reviews. We went in to check out the menu and met the owner/chef and said we'd be back for dinner. When we returned we were warmly greeted and took seats in a small window alcove in the converted house. My wife and I both ordered... More

We both had adobo: one chicken plate, one pork. Both were great. My wife really liked the mexican slaw that came with hers. This would be a 5 if they had home made tortillas. Solid food in an otherwise tricky town with limited non-tourist trap options.

Get ready to pay for chips and salsa at this place, with tomato and onion and 6 or 7 chips. Awful. Burrito was ok but pricey, and served with no sides. Pork platter was minimal and a teaspoon of guacamole and beans and slaw. Also pricey. Beer and wine and a waiter who runs his hands through his hair prior... More

We really enjoyed our fish tacos, the roasted-in-banana-leaf pork, and the fish and vegetable chicken broth soup. All ingredients were very fresh. I'm a big fan of coleslaw and the slaw included with the tacos and pork platters was yummy. Tangy and light. The pork was flavorful and succulent. The fish was generous and cooked perfectly--flaky and moist. The casual... More

Half moon Bay and it's coastal area are one our favorite locations to spend a day. Cafe Capistrano was a new find for us and our group of three loved it. The restaurant specializes in Yucatan (Mayan) cuisine. It also has burgers, sandwiches, breakfast items and are also known for their fish taco's. We were there early on a Monday... More

Quick trip to Half Moon Bay one evening. Found this restaurant on Yelp and so glad we decided to stop in. There were some locals there that night - all asking about the fish tacos. So we ordered the fish tacos - best I've had in a long time. Fish perfectly cooked. We had nachos too. They have the best... More

We were on our way from San Francisco to Santa Cruz and decided to stop for brunch. This place was delicious. I got the Yucatan Eggs which came with beans, guacamole, eggs, peppers, potatos and tortillas and it was amazing. My husband got the Chorizo and Eggs and loved his as well. I generally do not like Chorizo but was... More

I didn't find this place -- some friends from the Santa Cruz area had heard about it, and took me there after they picked me up from a conference at the nearby Ritz-Carlton resort. The location is an old, rather small house, near the point where a neighborhood meets a commercial/industrial area. Were it not for another restaurant-in-a-house a few... More

We visited this restaurant in late September. The first sign that this might not be the best place to eat was when ordering our drinks. They don't serve margaritas, which we found surprising for a Mexican restaurant. We ordered soft drinks, and the server just puts the cans on the table with no offer of even cups of ice. The food... More
