We've been going to the Cheese Shop for over 20 years. We often stop by to pick up sandwiches for the beach or before going sailing. Delicious sandwiches.... HUGE! You may want to plan on sharing! Be sure to leave room for their home-made cookies, the flourless oatmeal cookies are famous to the locals! My kids (now nearly adults) always... More

Loved my tuna sandwich! It was actually big enough for two. Staff are very friendly as well! You can take your sandwich and drinks to go and bring it to the beach!

Overall a great spot, but do not forget to get a cookie while you're there! Sandwiches and cheese are great as well!

Loved my kids sandwiches more than my own. Mistakingly thought the ham and cheese was to be grilled, but it was not. The oatmeal cookies are very good too.

Good food, great service, but they close at 1600 hours each day. My family ate the sandwiches which are huge and priced right. I went with the salad. Probably will not try the salad again for it was a bit dry.

Their specialty is the turkey, avocado and cheese sandwich. You can actually buy some cheeses and crackers here, but it is predominantly a good sandwich shop. As a side treat, they sell old style candy selections from the 60's and 70's.

The Cheese Shop sells a great sandwich for under ~$10.00. I ordered their most popular sandwich the Turkey, Jack Cheese and Avocado. Loved it! Be warned it's huge; so big in fact that you can share with someone or save the other half for later. I've stayed in La Jolla several times for business and somehow missed this great sandwich... Wanting a sandwich beyween a bike tour and kayaking, I picked the Cheese Shop. This is a friendly little shop very close to the beach, recommended by my locwl guide. The sandwiches are excellent- big, nice thick breads (rosemary for me), fresh ingredients inclyding homemade cranberry sauce on my chicken muenster and cranberry sandwich. Yum! You also need an oatmeal cookie:)... More

My granddaughter loves the Cheese Shop and we go for lunch all the time. Real turkey, roast beef, avocado. Lots of cheese selections and great homemade cookies. The Cheese Shop has many old-time candies and several candies at a child's eye level so be prepared to disappoint the young ones or give in to their sweet teeth. No indoor seating... More
