This was her second visit to Osteria Romantica, and both have been delightful. The location in La Jolla Shores has a quaint neighborhood feel, the restaurant has a warm, old world ambience. Outdoor dining is available. Our entrées, a cioppino and a fish pasta, were perfectly prepared generous proportions. Tuesday’s special is half-price wine, and the restaurant has a nice... More

Then don't stay open on a Sunday holiday evening. I really don't like to give bad reviews. We have eaten here before and were charmed. In all fairness, the waiter checked on us a couple of times and I didn't complain, but a 1/2 cup + of oil in the bottom of my pesto dish was just plain gross. Lurking... More

We are fans of Northern Italian cuisine (butter and cream) and have had some great meals here. My wife thinks it's ordinary but rest of my family give it a high rating. Homemade pastas are a good bet, especially if they put in porcini mushrooms. Bread and oil are very good, too. Service can be good, but can be dismissive.... More

This small & quaint restaurant was very good. The Italian red sauce was very authentic. As I am Italian, I do not usually order anything in an Italian restaurant with a red sauce, or Gravy as we call it in NJ, but I did here and it was really good and so were the meatballs. I was really surprised. We... More

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and it didn't disappoint. Very crowded on a Saturday night but our reservation was honored right on time. We split an heirloom tomato and burrata salad which was delicious. We picked pappardelle with braised lamb, wild mushrooms and olives in a brandy sauce as well as pumpkin sage ravioli for our entrees. Both were... More

So I am beginning to formulate that their are three types of Italian restaurants: amazing, authentic, top notch (e.g. Federal Hill spots in Providence); middling places that offer some homemade pasta options, and bland chains/in-authentic Prego-style restaurants. Osteria falls into the middle ground, albeit on the higher end. I was surprised to find the meal open with bread with marinara,... More

Excellent quaint spot in La Jolla with a friendly Italian staff. The pasta is great and a nice selection of wine.

The food and service was great. We had 8 people in our party and everyone raved about their dish. We had the lobster ravioli, gnocchi, tortellini with meat sauce, pesto pasta, a seafood linguine, short ribs and spaghetti and meatballs. We also enjoyed a few cocktails and one person had the limoncello marscapone dessert (it was excellent) Before dinner we... More

Like finding a pearl. The restaurant, atmosphere, service and food was so authentic, we felt like we were in Florence, Tuscany. Wonderful flavorful typical Italian ingredients, a nice bottle of Chianti, and service from a real Italian! Lots to choose from on the menu, we had a plate of antipasto, filled with delicious cheeses, vegetables and meats, it was a... More
