We (a party of 4 adults and 1 kid) went to this restaurant based on the good reviews on tripadvisor. We were very disappointed. Two of my friends just came from Beijing. They saw the sign outside saying that this was an authentic Beijing restaurant....More

I'm fond of Chinese food, good Chinese food. Despite its large size, Mandarin House just doesn't deliver. The food was not bad but rather uninspiring, almost bland to the taste. Our meals were a disappointment, and this is not a restaurant to which I would...More

While visiting a friend we ordered take-out. The menu was very extensive and reasonably priced. The food came promptly and was very delicious.

Service, atmosphere, food - everything delicious. Large portions - everything so fresh. We had something called Birds Nest - it had shrimp, scallops, chicken and LOTS of fresh veggies. Loved it!

We had an excellent meal and great service here for dinner. The asparagus wrapped in chicken is my favorite and is very, very good. Everyone else in our party loved their meals, as well.

The food at this restaurant in very bland and is not your traditional Chinese food. Very bland and I cant understand some of the other reviews. Service was good and the entree prices are on the high end.

Description
We have been serving the same classic Chinese recipes since we opened in 1977. We are La Jolla's favorite Chinese restaurant going on 3 generations and have continuted to be family owned and operated. Our unique flavors and recipies have been derived from classic Peking and Sze Chuan techniques. We boast many signature dishes that are original Mandarin House recipies such as our Kung Pao and Cashew Chicken, as well as our Smoked Chicken with Mandarin Seaweed, Salt and Pepper Chicken and our handmade Egg Rolls and Dumplings. Additionally, we bring the best version of your old favorites including Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef and Broccoli and even Peking Duck which is still handcarved tableside. We make all our sauces and marinades from scratch as well as our chicken stock fresh daily. We roast all our own meats and believe that our key to success all these years has been controlling every ingredient and process into creating all of our dishes. We are open for Lunch daily (except sunday) and offer Monday-Friday, 11am-2:30pm lunch specials. We deliver nightly from 5pm-9pm in La Jolla and Pacific Beach. Call us for take out or reservations. We can accomodate large parties up to 40. So thank you for thinking about dining at the Mandarin House. Our family friendly atmosphere and delicious food and cocktails will be sure to fill your bellies and put a smile on your faces. Come see what all the fuss is about. See you at The Mandarin House!!
