I am not exactly a connoisseur of Chinese Food, but after eating here for 20 years I got to say they always deliver great food. Flavors are great and portions are enough to share. Service is not their strong point but it really does not...More

It seems like this place is hit and miss but their fast and deliver. They egg rolls and wonton soup was really good. The fried rice wasn't so good. The entrees were hit and miss.

The food was old style American Chinese. The same type you would have had 30 years ago. A lot MSG and little natural taste.

My wife and I had dinner at the Mandarin House when we stayed at the Travelodge directly across the street from it back in late August (hence, the headline). Yum! She ordered a delicious shrimp dish and I ordered a spicy chicken plate. Sure wish...More

We had Beijing duck. Although it was no really the true beijing duck (which is very seldom is), it was very tasty. Huge servings. They specialize in seafood, I can recommend their dishes with prawns. For those who are sensitive to MSG, their food contains...More

Love love the Mandarin House. The food here is excellent and the owner is amazing and so friendly and kind. The Hillcrest location is even better. Try the Salt and Pepper Chicken, my favorite. Great for both big and small parties, highly recommended.

Delicious, authentic Chinese, including vegetarian items. DELICIOUS egg rolls. Don't be fooled by the look of the place on the outside...it's re-done, clean and very comfy on the inside. They even have a lovely little bar. GO! YUM!

We have been serving the same classic Chinese recipes since we opened in 1977. We are La Jolla's favorite Chinese restaurant going on 3 generations and have continuted to be family owned and operated. Our unique flavors and recipies have been derived from classic Peking and Sze Chuan techniques. We boast many signature dishes that are original Mandarin House recipies such as our Kung Pao and Cashew Chicken, as well as our Smoked Chicken with Mandarin Seaweed, Salt and Pepper Chicken and our handmade Egg Rolls and Dumplings. Additionally, we bring the best version of your old favorites including Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Beef and Broccoli and even Peking Duck which is still handcarved tableside. We make all our sauces and marinades from scratch as well as our chicken stock fresh daily. We roast all our own meats and believe that our key to success all these years has been controlling every ingredient and process into creating all of our dishes. We are open for Lunch daily (except sunday) and offer Monday-Friday, 11am-2:30pm lunch specials. We deliver nightly from 5pm-9pm in La Jolla and Pacific Beach. Call us for take out or reservations. We can accomodate large parties up to 40. So thank you for thinking about dining at the Mandarin House. Our family friendly atmosphere and delicious food and cocktails will be sure to fill your bellies and put a smile on your faces. Come see what all the fuss is about. See you at The Mandarin House!!
