This restaurant has been in Bixby Knolls for many years. This past weekend was the first time I had been there in decades. My husband and I both thought the food was good, the service good (if understaffed), and a good value for what we ordered. I ordered the Veal Piccata, it came with a salad (simple iceberg lettuce salad,... More

Phil Trani's to me has always been a bit of an "old school" place. It is not the most cutting edge in décor or menu by any means, it is more of a neighborhood place that is comfortable. The kind of place you see older couples go out with friends and the men wear a sport coat and tie! (saw... More

I was impressed with both good food and service. I had the halibut Vera Cruz which was cooked to perfection. As a special treat my dining companion introduced me to Mr. Trani and we had a wonderful conversation lasting about 30 minutes. I will return when in the area again.

My brother recommend this place on our way back to airport dinner was OK but everything seemed watered down like it was previously frozen. Waitress was accommodating but not well informed on the menu or the specials. We ordered off the regular menu perhaps we should have tried a special.....

I want to give a good review, and have tried this place a few times hoping it would be great, as it is a cool atmosphere, but overtime I am there, the dining room is depressing, and service mediocre. Why were 3 servers having dinner in the dining room, with other servers spending more time with them, than the 6... More

Our friends have been talking about the Seafood and Steak here so we all finally went. I got a nice big Halibut Filet, blackened, that was cooked perfectly. It must've been 1 1/2" thick. Tasted the Pepper Steak which was also delicious. I'm looking forward to trying their Salmon. The dinners are well worth the price ($20-30). If you're looking... More

Great experience, excelllent wine selection with fine Italian food. The clams with linguine was recommended and was superb! Table mate had veal piccata which was also excellent.

After many years of hearing about this place advertised on the radio I finally stopped in to hear a band that was performing and was treated to a great dinning experience. Just a bit north of the 405 freeway on Long Beach Blvd.Tranis' is tucked away in a very unassuming location. From the outside you'd never guess how large this... More

We have been here at least 12 times in the last 3 years since we discovered it. This place is a walk back in time. An older crowd. Food is very good. Seafood is always fresh and well prepared. Steaks are excellent. Service can be slow at times, but they get very crowded most nights. Great appetizers too.

An excellent sauce witha full chicken breast, large scallops and shrimp, and both Italian and andouille sausage. Although we didnt order thm the steakd looked like agood value at under $25. My...
