It was a first time dining at Baco Mercat. In downtown Los Angeles there are tons of really cool restaurants and this is one. Since this location is in the old bank district the buildings are really cool. Tip- theres a parking lot next to the restaurant $8.00 max which is pretty cheap being in downtown. I'd take it. The... I am a food snob. I admit it! This place has personality and so does the food. Fat fresh and delicious! Try the Shrimp Sandwich aka El Pesco. Take a few simple ingredients and make something great! I'm not a drinker but the cocktail menu looked like someone is one heck of a mad scientist to come up with drinks... More

My wife and I shared three dishes (I think all were called "starters") --- cauliflower, eggplant and Brussels sprouts --- each prepared in a most creative and tasty fashion. We were just delighted with the meal. I would also point out that the service was prompt, pleasant and helpful.

As a solo diner, I took the opportunity to sit at the bar- I'm so glad I did! Baco Mercat was perfect - terrific food, good wine, and genuinely lovely staff.

The food was fabulous! One thing more flavorful than the next. The only strange thing was that the food all came out at different times for our party. We did have a larger party (15), but we found it a tad odd that dinners were staggered, so by as much as 15 minutes.

Baco Mercat lived up to the promise that it would be loved by young and old (er) alike. Cool understated decor, great fresh cocktails, nice wine by the glass for lunchtime indulgence. We tried the sweet piggy, and a couple of 'slayers' all prepared with the freshest ingredients. The sunny side up egg that adorns the slayer was perfectly cooked.... More

Baco has some unique very interesting plates. Think Mexican, Mediterranean flavors The baco is only available here (Chef Centeno's creation) and is a bread-like substance flattened like a tortilla. The one I got had oxtail, cheddar tater, horseradish yoghurt,, delicious not cheap. We tried the shrimp baco as well. At the end of the day, the plates had flavor, good... More

Every time I go to Baco I get an original Baco (chefs signature sandwich) lots of sauce, lots of meat. In addition, I always try to order a few of the sides, which are always changing. Interesting flavor combos, usually a lot of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is more of happening bar, than elegant restaurant. All the tables and bar... More

In downtowns old banking district, stuff happens. Here you can eat Bäco, a cross between a taco, pizza and gyro. Other dishes balancing on a thin line between Mexico and the Mediterranean.A nice tavern visit with good service

Everyone has a different conception of what makes for a pleasant dining experience. This restaurant is geared to the 20/30 year old set with piped in music adding to the din and a unique menu that may not be as appealing to an older clientele. We had carmelized cauliflower (fairly good but overcooked for us), brussels sprout Caesar salad served... More
