North Fairfax was once the center of a traditional Jewish community in LA. But that community has spread out and the street has declined. As a result, Canter's stands almost alone, a huge space with two dining rooms and a bar, but no longer the...More

We drove from Needles to meet my daughter at this restaurant at a particular time and somehow despite problems it all fell together. The restaurant might as well have been transported magically from NYC. I had a smoked turkey sandwich, my partner an avocado and...More

Classic old time deli was a throwback to the 50,s and 60,s. They have convenient free parking next door or there is parking on the street. Loved the old time atmosphere that is missing in our lives these days. We had the blintzes which were...More

Seated in the second room. Not a good idea. Few tables filled and server had both rooms to work. Corned beef sandwiches were delicious as were the coke slaw and potato salad. Decor is strictly from the 50's, 60's. Have own parking which was a...More

My sister came down from northern California, so our sister, who lives in Los Angeles, and I decided we should treat her to lunch at Canter's. Our server, Stacy, was very pleasant and efficient.

I love a deli and Center's doesn't disappoint. It is located in a very busy neighbourhood but what I really like is they have a parking lot next door where you can park for 1 1/2 hours free of charge while you enjoy your meal....More

This place is the same and that is great. Excellent food with a huge menu. This time I had challah French toast and it was excellent.

We have been here many over decades - the decor has not been refreshed but they still serve good deli food. The sandwiches are still "old school" overstuffed - the soup is good with generous ingredients. Very good matzah ball soup. There is a validated...More

A late night Thanksgiving dinner can't get better than the one Canter's Deli serves. There's plenty of turkey and dressing, not too salty either. The liver and onions is also a superb old style deli presentation.
