We visited El Compadre on recommendation when we were visiting Hollywood. Fantastic atmosphere, great live music and authentic Mexican food. Highly recommended! Great Margaritas, and home made nachos with guacamole and (very) hot sauce put on all the tables with drinks.

Was looking for a decent Mexican restaurant to have lunch at when I arrived in West Hollywood. A friend recommended this restaurant. Chips and salsa were dropped off at our table and I ordered the beef burritos. The chips were very good and both salsas (mild and hot) were really good. The burrito plate came with rice and beans and... More

Went with my kids. Loved the food and the attention we received. My kids are picky about Mexican food, but they absolutely enjoyed the Tacos, and Burritos. Their rice and beans were an absolute delight.

I have heard many wonderful things about this restaurant. While the atmosphere is amazing, the set-up is almost an old school mexico, with a live band playing; the food was not to my liking. I have definitely had worse, but I have also had better. My mistake may have been that I ordered the one cuban dish on the menu.... More

Mexican restaurant, always full...full...full but worth waiting (or reserving, much better). We heard it was the best Margarita in LA. This is. Definitely. The restaurant itself is nice too, live music, typical mexican seats and tables, excellent food.

We don't know the area well. Decided we would try to find a Mexican resturant utilizing Trip Advisor and saw this place ranked well. We went, staff was very friendly and genuine. The food was excellent, and very filling. The atmosphere is just as authentic as the food. It was a great find and a nice way to end our... More

This place has real authentic Mexican food. The wait staff was reasonably good, knew the food inside out and when making recommendations didn't list the most expensive things on the menu. They offered what was their favourite. The flaming Margarita on the rocks was okay at $11. Nothing special. The guacamole to start was excellent. They also brought complimentary chips... More

This is what REAL Mexican food is all about. So glad that restaurants like these still exist. Authentic recipes. All freshly made. I enjoyed a camarones dish, can't remember which one but it was good. We had great margaritas too. There was a mariachi band playing that night literally 2 feet from our large table (there were about 15 of... More

A 35+ year tradition on Sunset Boulevard in the Rock and Roll district makes El Compadres a must visit location. There are a limited number of "traditional," 70s style Mexican restaurants left in LA. El Compadre is definitely one of the classics. The architecture is pure Old Mexico with brick interiors, arched passages and Terra Cotta roofed awnings. The food... More
