My friend & I loved everything about our day at the Getty Villa and Tea By The Sea. Reservation process (several months in advance) was easy and followup regarding a dietary restriction was prompt & very helpful. The day of the tea, we arrived around 11am and had a wonderful time looking at all of the Roman & Greek Antiquities... More

What a great way to spend part of the day,. Intimate museum and one of the best museum cafes I have encountered here or abroad. Fresh, healthy and tasty choices, lovely ambiance. Highly recommended to get children acquainted with museums because it is small. My 8 year old has been going for 2 years now and loves it!

My daughter took me to Tea by the Sea as part of my Mother's Day celebration a few days later since we were busy having fun somewhere else on Mother's Day itself. We love the Getty Villa and an afternoon of tiffin and the new mosaic exhibit sounded very appealing. The booking system wasn't very responsive, but daughter got there... More

We only found out about the tea when we arrived early to the Villa, but we booked immediately and luckily got in. The yummies were very well prepared and delicious, a good blend of savorys and sweets. And there was a copious amount: we ended up taking some of ours home for later. I had a glass of bubbly and... My wife and I ate at the Cafe at the Getty Villa, the same location as Tea by the Sea, while we were touring the Villa. The Cafe serves casual Mediterranean fare. We shared the penne with wild boar ragu, one of the best ever, along with the insalata della Casa, a very delicious salad. You do not need reservations... More

There are two parts to this cafe - there is an expensive Tea by the Sea menu which requires reservations and is only available on Thursday and Saturdays ($36 for set menu + service charge). Then there is also the cafe in the same location with the a la carte menu which you can choose anything from, order at the... More

This cafe is pretty good as museum cafes go, and it's nice to sit outside with a view of the Getty Villa and ocean in the distance. There is an interesting (and pricey) menu. The portions are huge, so you could probably save money by sharing a dish if you are not overly hungry. My husband had a very good... More

If you're looking for a break during your visit to the Getty Villa (and you'll need one as the Villa needs 3-4 hours to do it justice) then stop at the cafe for lunch. Really excellent mediterranean cafe cusine - lots of fresh ingredients and well prepared. We had a very nice portobello mushroom carprese sandwich and the Villa salad.... More

Tea by the Sea connotes some sort of sea view. We were disappointed that there was none. The Tea by the Sea room looks like a small portion of a hilton hotel undecorated banquet room overlooking the Getty Villa's restaurant and some grounds that were not particularly exciting or sunny. There was zero charm. The actual tea service was ok.... More

We had no idea what to expect when we decided to have a bite to eat at the museum, and were a little surprised at what we thought were high prices for "just a sandwich". But, when the food was delivered to our table we were astounded how wonderful the lunch was. The chicken/salad wrap was outstanding, and the portobello... More
