I really love grabbing a drink here although weirdly I have never tried the food. I love the decor, it feels like proper old school Los Angeles. Love the taxidermy and velvet couches. I just like the rich indulgent feel of the space sipping on a glass of cab. Anytime I have out of towners visiting dtla I take them... More

If you remember the old Cliftons or other cafeteria style places, this is not what you're looking for. The picture of the desserts is accurate but most of the other food is more like a food court, with lines for the different entree options. When we were there they were of several things and the lines moved so slowly. So,... More

You have to be in the mood for an experience! Ignore the kill-joy who called it "touristy." And if she wanted haute cuisine, she shouldn't have expected to get it from a cafeteria! This is eclectic and historic. And FUN! We started with a drink in the Gothic Bar, and enjoyed sitting and talking and people watching. The night we... More

You feel like you are stepping back into time with the edgy, eclectic decor. Where else can you find a stuffed bear and a concrete tree growing in the middle of the restaurant? The food is super too with various stations in the buffet line. They have carved meat, meatloaf, huge pot pies, various sides selection, desserts, and many other food... More

A bit disappointed in the restaurant. Food overpriced however, the chicken pot pie was tasty. I found the place was a bit too touristy and not as "old" charming as it was forty years ago.

We were visiting downtown at the Broad art museum and walked over to Clifton's to see what it was all about. When you ask someone "What's Clifton's like?, no one can give an answer. Its a cafeteria and bar, and so many other curiosities that when you walk around something catches your eyes everywhere you look. Some of the items... More

This review covers the facility itself & the bars, but not the food. We came here one evening for a birthday, not knowing what to expect. Ours jaws literally dropped upon entering Cliftons. The place is like nothing you have ever experienced before. There are multiple levels with a different themed bar on each level (and different themed drinks for... More

January 3, 2017 - After walking on Broadway to look at the facades and architectural features of some of the old theaters; the Palace, the Roxi, etc., we stopped at Clifton's for dinner. We had listed Clifton's as one of the historical places we wanted to visit while in Los Angeles and this was a good time to visit. We... More

We came on Super Bowl Sunday to celebrate a birthday. Parking is $6 and directly across the street. Food is arranged in a few different stations and I did the the tradional meal with roast beef and two sides. I was a little disappointed that by the time I got to my table almost everything was room temp or cold.... More

Welcome back Clifton's! After so much anticipation, I was very happy with all the food and the environment. The lines were very long and they don't have very many vegetarian options, but what they had was great tasting. We really want to come back and go to the Tiki Room!!!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
