I just heard today that Hop Louie will be closing its doors at the end of this month (August 2016). It is (soon to be was) an icon of kitsch architecture with its five layer pagoda style building and neon signs. It serves great Cantonese and Mandarin fare and will be sorely missed in Chinatown Los Angeles. I certainly hope... More

Wonderful place to eat during our visit to Chinatown. Superb lunch specials at reasonable prices for our family. My kids loved it, so did we! Highly recommended when visiting Chinatown or a night out in LA.

Hop Louie is one of the older restaurants in Chinatown and it shows. It has not been kept up too much and that is sort of the charm of it. It is old fashioned Cantonese food. The service is great, the wait staff is so friendly and will help you navigate the menu. There is something for everyone. The cashew... More

Whenever I go to Chinatown in Los Angeles, this is always the place where I stop to eat. My uncle suggested it to me, and I love the place! The outer facade is a Chinese pagoda, which I love. The bar is on the main floor, and you have to climb some stairs to reach the restaurant. The decor is... More

We stumbled on this place not having checked TripAdvisor and had a very pleasant lunch The place was very quiet so the service was good. We order the shared mixed appetiser player and the squab lettuce cups - our wait lady told us that would be plenty and it was. The mixed platter itself would have been enough for us... More

Unfortunate place. If you like greasy chinese cuisine and you also enjoy rude and indifferent treatment then this is the place for you. Plus it smells bad.

Waitress was rude. Another party asked her to take a picture for them and although she was busy which is understood she didnt have to make them feel like they were asking for the impossible and yelling she was busy.

Stumbled onto Hop Louie attracted by Chinese architecture. We decided to go in for a meal. Restaurant is upstairs, a bar downstairs. Red carpet on stairs needs replacing but fine when you get to restaurant area. Done out in typical Chinese style looks good. We ordered the "family meal special for 2"......cost $18.55 all inclusive....soup, entree, 4 mains. Meal and... More
