Well you could probably guess by the name of the restaurant the theme is bears and the outdoors. It's really nicely done. Clean, modern, outdoorsy. It is noisy, so it's not for a quiet, intimate dinner IMHO. Staff is very hard working and friendly. High marks on the salads from another patron. I had spaghetti and meatballs, and I ordered... More
We visited on a very busy Sunday morning. We were seated promptly, and asked for our beverage order. Our waitress apologized for the delay. She provided our chicken fried steak pretty quickly, considering how busy they were. We have been here before and have always had good service. Our waitress Brandy was very efficient and accommodating.
My son & I arrived at Black Bear about 6 pm on Thursday evening. The rustic decor is very homey. Our waitress Terri was wonderful! She has a great personality & is generous with the extras. The portions are very large & the food is expertly prepared. The Chicken Gumbo Soup with the large corn muffin & whipped butter is... More
Homestyle cooking located near the hospital. The restaurant is coffee shop type with good portions, I have been there several times food is good and priced well.
Eaten here many times.Never disappointed. Food is great w/hardy servings. Service is fantastic Prices fair. Burgers (yum); hot turkey sandwiches are beyond delicious, w/ REAL roasted & carved turkey - not glorified lunch meat. Desserts are fantastic. Great place to relax after a day of travel. They even deliver to your hotel. Treat yourself......
Breakfast is always great at Black Bear. This one is no exception. It's easy off the freeway and easy back on. The portions are HUGE. Come with a big appetite and be prepared to ask for a take home bag. Enjoy whatever meal you're there for. We always do.
While in the Madera area, we went to the Black Bear Diner for what might be called comfort food. Black Bear diners are known for generous portions, and while the offerings at this location are generous the food is good but not outstanding. During our visit I had a cup of vegetable soup, hot and nicely stocked with veggies. My... More
I went here for dinner tonight because of so many positive reviews on TA and it was great! All o wanted was just a sandwich (patty melt) and it was cooked just right! The real star of the show was my server Jessica! I would hire her away from this place if I owned a competing restaurant! She's a rockstar!
My daughter and I visited the restaurant in January, and My husband and myself visited in September. We were greeted with smile and friendly service.
