Dukes was chosen after another location lost their lease and closed a few weeks before the wedding. Serendipity was at work since the wedding involved both Hawaian and Japanese themes. They easily accommodated our large group in a private room with partial views of the ocean and sunset. The catered foods were very good with plenty for everyone. Wait staff... More

I recently had a wonderful lunch at Duke's. My experience started with a warm "aloha" welcome as I entered the front reception area; as I waited for my friend, the receptionist was polite and engaging. As soon as my colleague arrived we were immediately seated by the window in a nice booth. Our server was charismatic, professional, and very efficient.... More

Recently went to Duke's for the views and their weekend brunch buffet. My boyfriend and I were visiting LA and wanted a romantic little brunch. The atmosphere for brunch isn't romantic, per se, but there are definitely some breathtaking views. And brunch was delicious- a nice mix of breakfast and lunch foods. Also a very nice selection of fresh fruit... More

Loved every second of our meal here! I had the Korean steak tacos & my friend had the fish tacos and both were delectable. The homemade coleslaw has been the only kind of coleslaw I have ever fund edible, The views from the outdoor patio were beyond gorgeous! They only have valet parking for $4 in their lot but you... So, quick version, love Duke's, all of em. Dropped into bar, rainy Monday night, 8:30. Waitress said kitchen closed early due to slow business. We bailed, but remarked to mgr how much we liked the remodel. Upon learning why we were leaving, he said nonsense, we can certainly get your order in for dinner. He did, they did, and meal... More

You cannot beat the location. I mean come on now!!! The food is your average dukes burgers, fish tacos, salad, ahi... Nothing to brag about but that view..Now that is something to brag about. The drinks and appetizers out on that patio is heaven....

We went for lunch a party of five during a recent rainy Saturday afternoon. The indifferent hostess sat as promptly for our reservation at a lovely booth overlooking the Pacific. Two of us ordered the fish special, which was Mahi Mahi, and was delightful. I asked for fresh vegetables to be substituted for coconut rice, and the modest up charge... More

I visited this restaurant with friends and had drinks and appetizers. The margarita was incredibly strong with not much lime, I couldn't finish it. We ate nachos for an appetizer and they were just okay. I don't feel the need to go back there. The bar scene was cool, but if the food isn't great and the drinks were eh,... More

Staying in Malibu

Neighbourhood Profile
Malibu
The Malibu coastline is like a chameleon. In some areas it resembles the French Riviera with its lush, green hillsides descending into crescent-shaped shorelines. In others, it feels 100% Southern Californian with beaches wide and flat as a football field, and often crowded with beach-goers lounging on towels and playing volleyball. Other coastlines still feel secluded, tucked under tall cliffs and dotted with stunning rock formations. In certain areas, where the ocean waves are just right, surfers can be seen bobbing in the water. Up in the mountains to the east hikers take in truly stunning views of the ocean and the sprawling Los Angeles landscape. And along Pacific Coast Highway, restaurants are filled with visitors and locals from all walks of life. Stumble into the right place at the right time, and you’ll likely encounter a celebrity.
