Short story: enchanting location, great for business, pleasure, and families, with good outdoor seating and nice ambiance. Great drinks. Long story: it was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was springtime in Northern California, it was two weeks before I had to submit grades for my classes; I was hungry and frustrated, i remembered Bistro... We had been dining in top Sonoma restaurants and perhaps it's unfair to compare... the food was Ok... my lamb was over cooked... the owner charming... however each time I asked for something from more salad dressing, to wiping up the table after the waiter overfilled my glass, nobody followed through... there seem to be a revolving door of wait... My wife and I eat here almost every week. She loves the croque Monsieur. I like variety so have something different each time. It has all been consistently great, whether on a busy weekend night or when it is emptier midweek. It is all very french. Mostly the standards, hot, fresh and delicious. Even the butter tastes French. Wines are... More

Awesome coq au vin, boudin noire, and couscous - Reasonable with a wine list that doesn't make you feel like you just got rapped!

My only problem with Bistro Vida is that since they hired their new French chef, it is much, much more crowded. The bistro food is terrific. I loved the Coq Au Vin. I look forward to going back.

I had been here before a few times, but not for about two years. My wife's father was visiting and on Tuesday he took my wife, our son, and me to Bistro Vida. We loved it -- the food was terrific, service attentive and very friendly and efficient, and we found the place very welcoming and homey. We went again... More

We are in town for Thansgiving week and wanted to try the local French restaurant. We considered Left Bank but Vida has a much more fun, authentic French look and feel so we were drawn to it. I haven't spent a lot of time in France but we have spent a lot of time looking for good French restaurants in... More

I guess I still have the rogue teenager-boy-quality in me enough to be thrown out of a restaurant I’ve been a repeat customer of forever… Pointing out to the owner Ali Elsafy that I really like his new online menu, I was served a perfectly warmed cognac and asked not to come back…I guess some people still have hardships launching... I have been coming here since probably when they opened a long time ago. The service has always been good and the food is always great. Simple but great.

The restaurant was 1/3 full at 6 PM on a Tuesday night. The only person obviously serving as a waiter/host was the owner. There was another guy sort of acting as a busboy. It was hard to get seated, hard to ask any questions about the menu, hard to get a single glass of water (a single refill only received... More
