This place was right around the corner from our hotel, so I found it via Google maps. Reviews checked out, so we decided to give it a try. Got there right before they got super busy. Sushi and nigiri were fresh and delicious. Staff and...owner were polite, friendly, and attentive. I found myself wishing the tea was a little stronger, but otherwise the meal was amazing and I would definitely return.More

I've been here before and recalled how I enjoyed the experience. Our hotel, Victorian Inn, is just a 5 min walk away. We know to arrive when it opens. There are a few tables with CDC guidelines, and the crowds appear immediately since they don't...accept reservations. We snagged a great table and watch how the crowd congregate in the front with occasional to-go customers stepping in. The owner, or manager, does his job very well. He explains, apologizes, and manages his staff as well being diplomatic to the waiting crowd. The sushi is fresh, plentiful, and attractive. And so tasty. I think all of us enjoyed this premium meal at a fair price.More

This place was recommended to me by a Monterey local. I knew it must be good when we drove up and saw the line outside. After waiting in the freezing cold winds for 45 minutes we finally got a table at Crystal Fish. It was...definitely worth the wait. The food is absolutely fabulous! Super nice friendly staff and a fun environment. Everything was good from their salad to the sushi. If you like Japanese food I highly recommend The Crystal Fish.More

The nigiri dishes were nice and fresh. The hamachi-salmon carpaccio seemed like a confusion of tastes and sloppily presented. The agadashi tofu was good. The golden California roll was greasy - I discarded it (bad choice on my part) Admittedly, I live in the Bay...area and had just come back from Hawaii - so I was used to the best sushi outside of Japan, but really, the whole meal was just ok. I expected better - we are in California after all!More

I’ve always visited this restaurant when I go to Monterey for many years. They always serve great food and never disappointed. I like bento boxes, and chirashi. All food is fresh and delicious. The price is reasonable for the portion and high quality food.

We did take-out, and it was still one of the best sushi places we’ve ever been to. Was ready in 25 min, wait to pick up food once we arrived was quick and the food was still hot when we ate it, we did eat...it in our car.... but still. Fantastic sushi. Will come again. Forgot to take a pic because it was just so good.More

Stopped in for dinner during a conference in Monterey. I am a bit of a sushi snob so was not expecting much, but it definitely exceeded my expectation. great fresh tasting

We currently live in San Jose but are members of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Whenever we are in Monterey this is our go-to lunch spot. They have a fantastic lunch bento box! Their sashimi is good but their rolls are better. The miso soup is...also really good. Plus they have real wasabi for $1, definitely try it! The only thing that didn't really wow us was the tempura. It's not bad but we like their rolls a lot more.More

We came here on the Thursday night before Valentine's. They were busy but also very good about turning over tables so that there really wasn't a wait for a table. It's very good sushi, but it wasn't the best sushi we've had in the area....For example, the unagi sushi we had was good but not enough of the sauce put on. Same with the salmon skin hand roll, it was dry, not enough sauce. The tuna and unagi tasted good, and we were satisfied with the meal in general, as we were craving sushi. However, we will not come back there.More
