Plumes was right next to my hotel. The desserts were terrific and the staff was excellent. They reminded me of my local coffee house in GA. I told them what I wanted and they made the perfect blend. The oldsters outside were fabulous to talk with and willing to share Monterey history and political views. Plumes is going to make... More

Our server at dinner the previous evening recommended Plumes as a place where local folks went to have breakfast or a fast coffee on the way to work. Typical of this type of establishment, there were a large selection of fresh pastries that my wife sampled. I had a great breakfast sandwich on bagel that hit the spot. Friendly staff... More

Needed a cup of coffee early in the morning and this was the only place ready to serve me at 6am! Very good location and clean.

The great location on the corner of Alvarado and E. Franklin makes this a perfect place to people watch whilst enjoying one of their 'pour over' coffees. They make a selection of coffee and tea drinks to your specification with warm and friendly service-Bella especially! Their opening hours from 6 am to 10 pm (apart from Sundays) plus their convenient... More

They have a multitude of coffee's, pastries and quiche. Lovely little place just around the corner from the Marriott Monterey we stayed at. The hotel front desk recommended it when we asked. I had the chocolate croissant and my husband had the apple fritter. Very good. Friendly people too.

I am a big believer in live local, shop local. There are corporate chain coffee shops on Alverado Street, but Plumes is purely local. Beside my homer perspective, the coffee is great, baked goods outstanding, and the service what you would expect from locals. The location is good for people watching. I particularly like the window seating.

I liked this place but i thought the service was bit of a let down. In fairness it seemed to have nice buzz about the place and seems popular with locals. The coffee was good which is always a good reason to go anywhere.

So you must check out the coffee and extras. Generally I do not like brewed coffee. I was pleasantly surprised. If you are an espresso snob like me you must try the "poor over". It's kinda like French press without the press.
