A friend recommended this restaurant. Our first day impression was great, however, when our entrees arrived, the waiter (in training, I think) dumped my husbands' whole plate in his lap knocking over a glass of expensive wine in the process. We were surprised when the bill reflected full price for both meals, no replacement glass of wine offered, and a... More

I loved my first visit so much I found a friend to go back with me. I had the daily special of Butternut Squash Soup and Lobster Ravioli. The Soup was so creamy and tasty that it is the best I have ever had. The Lobster Ravioli was very rich and tasty. They make their own noodles which is a... More

This Restaurant is not to be missed. From the time I was greeted by Donatella to the moment I walked out the door everything was perfect. My waiter Laurent was knowledgeable, helpful and fast with his service. The atmosphere is lovely with white table cloths in a small intimate setting. It is quite obvious that the local business people flock... More

I stumbled across Il Barone a few years ago and have dined there several times. Always a treat and a pleasure.

So I'm a definite sucker for good Italian food, so after arriving to our hotel, 3 different employees suggested eating here, and with it being as close as it was to the hotel, all it required was a short-distance walk. Anyway, the first night we tried going there, yelp said it closed at 10, but got there at 9 and... More

We were not sure about the suggestion to try this restaurant, but were pleasantly surprised. The menu and decor are fairly traditional, and we thought the food would be traditional and ordinary. Not at all! The mushroom appetizer was perfect. My pasta with seafood was one of the specials of the day and was just delicious. My husband enjoyed his... More

This was our second diner at Il Barone Ristorante and it was as excellent as the first. The restaurant is a quiet, attractive, moderately small but high quality restaurant. Highly recommended for a quiet Italian dinner.

Impressive hidden Italian fine-dining gem tucked about a half-runway south of John Wayne Airport: il Barone, Chef Franco Barone and his wife Donatello's fulfilled dream, now six years of refining the warm reception and cozy atmosphere, and, more critically, the Northern Italian (Milanese originated, and Southern California restaurant, including Antonello's refined) cuisine. From Donatello's welcoming reception at the front counter,... More

This is a quiet, civilized place with old world, friendly service. I always order the daily specials that are carefully prepared and presented. Franco and Donatella are a great team. A great place to take special clients for a business lunch.

We were actually looking to have dinner at a restaurant next door but when we reached it we found that place was only open until 3 PM and it was closer to 6. We were just too exhausted to get back in the car and go to another place nearby so we looked at the other shops in that shopping... More

We saw this place on Yelp and thought we would try yesterday. It is new but the chef was the lead chef at Antonello's, our favorite restaurant in Orange County. We were NOT disappointed! Carpaccio di Cinghiale, which was excellent. We also had the Trofie al Ragu' di Coniglio which is pasta with rabbit ragu. The pasta was homemade and the ragu was different but really flavorful. We never would have thought of rabbit as an entree, but here we would order it again!
