My husband and I were convinced until last weekend that the best Italian food was always prepared by my MIL at our house, but Friday night we were delighted to dine at Il Barone in Newport Beach and learn that we no longer have to...More

I treated my friends to real Sicilian feast at my house by ordering from Il Barone. We enjoyed appetizers of flatbread (with and without prosciutto) and Arinchini plus a main course of eggplant parmigiana with limoncello tiramisu for dessert. The eggplant was the best I...More

I am a devotee of Marche moderne, and since they have closed for their move, I have been trying other restaurants for my lunches. I have not been happy at Fig and Olive or Bistango. Il Barone is a different story, I had a very...More

We only had 45 minutes during a conference break. We stumbled across Il Barone and had the soup of the day. Friendly efficient service. The soup was excellent!

The hotel concierge recommended this place...it was a quick walk from the hotel. A bit hard to see...we thought it was closed, but the door is on the side. The service was good, the food was very good. It is like a family Italian restaurant....More

My husband and I were greeted at the door and promptly seated at a table for 2 with linen table clothes. The restaurant was tastefully decorated for Christmas. During our visit, the owner/manager(?) would quietly rearrange a table to provide more privacy for new customers....More

We saw this place on Yelp and thought we would try yesterday. It is new but the chef was the lead chef at Antonello's, our favorite restaurant in Orange County. We were NOT disappointed! Carpaccio di Cinghiale, which was excellent. We also had the Trofie al Ragu' di Coniglio which is pasta with rabbit ragu. The pasta was homemade and the ragu was different but really flavorful. We never would have thought of rabbit as an entree, but here we would order it again!
