My father-in-law has been telling me about this place for a while and during a recent visit we decided to stop in for breakfast. I an not a big sweets eater so I opted for the ham and cheese croissant and a hot tea. The server warmed the croissant perfectly to where the ham was nice and warm an the... More

The only places you will find comparable croissants is in France and Italy. And, the rest of the food is right up there with the croissants. The cakes are literally works of art, and if it is possible, they taste as good as they look. The soups, quiches, sandwiches, and salads are all fare fit for the most discriminating foodie.... More

We enjoyed the croissants here - almond for him, almond raspberry for me. We found this place traveling from Carmel to Monterey, on our way to the aquarium. This bakery is not in the middle of the Carmel/Monterey tourist attractions, so the parking is easy and prices fair. We enjoyed our breakfast here before the aquarium opened.

We'll be back!! Stopped in for lattes and pasteries. Hard to make a choice. Almond raspberry croissant was decadently delicious. Apple strudel was fantastic. Lovely dining room with plants and fountain was comfortable and gave us a peek of the bay. Wish we had found them sooner.

We've enjoyed each delicious bite of Bechler's French pastries. The owner is obviously a master baker appreciated by locals as well as tourists. There is plenty of free parking since the building was once an A &W!

Our family has used Bechler's for years for all our pastry needs. I work in the wedding business and highly reccommend them for wedding cakes. If we need high quality pastries for an event - these are the folks to go to.

A must for breakfast! The owner is from Alsace and the interior of the cafe reflects that. The Nutella croissant was a highlight for me. Even if you're staying in Carmel, it's worth the 15 minute drive!

We stopped by for a quick breakfast quiche before leaving Monterey. We had heard good things about this place. It is a nice little place tucked up in a strip mall. We were immediately greeted when we came in, but immediately noticed that the place doesn't take credit or debit cards...no worries, there's an ATM when you walk in....except it... More
