We called in to Melvyn's for Friday evening drinks shortly after arriving in PS. From the moment we walked in we could sense the history of this little bar and lounge, which is the epitome of faded glory in this town. Several times we had to pinch ourselves as the place is so 'out of time', but it is great... More

This is place is dining done as it should be. Great staff and a wonderful setting. As many have said this is old school. The Maitre D wearing a tuxedo, excellent food, table side cooking. What could be better? If you want fast service a quick meal this is not the place for you. This is a linger and savor... More

This place is Old School. A charming, personable maitre d, Matt, I believe is his name, seated us at Frank Sintra's favorite table at our request and proceeded to entertain its with stories of the rich and famous who have dined at Melvyn's. Matt has been working there for 35 years. Service was impeccable and the cuisine was superb and... More

What a wonderful find in the middle of downtown Palm Springs. We had heard about this old time restaurant and we anxious to try it out. It was better than our expectations. When you drive up to the wrought iron gates and proceed past the Ingleside Inn to the all valet parking in front of Melvyn's Restaurant, you know you... More

Melvyn's is caught in a time warp but is all the better for it. It is an old-time martini bar and restaurant. Make time to sit in the bar before dinner. The martinis are good; the bartenders are pros; the other patrons are a show unto themselves; the decor will take you back to the sixties. Service staff in the... More

If you find yourself in Palm Springs one evening and happen to be in need of a fine dining experience, then book a table at Melvyn's. Do it up right, dress to the nines and take your date out for evening of live music, great cocktails and even greater stories from Matt. Have Steak Dianne prepared table side, along with... More

This place is like a time capsule, but in a totally awesome way. I took my family for martinis on New Year's Eve. It is an absolute Palm Springs must do. The martinis are boozy, the crowd totally into the place, and a swingin' 60s vibe. Apparently this place was Sinatra's watering hole; if it was good enough for the... More

Old Palm Springs ambiance. Great food and drinks. Every meal prepared from scratch. Enjoy the piano lounge/bar before or after dinner. Especially great for a special occasion.

My husband and I dined at Melvyn's on the evening of December 21st. The place was very busy, but we were able to be seated. This was our 2nd time here. The Short Rib is out of this world and just melts in your mouth. The serving of Banana Squash that came with it was fabulous. The Coq Au Vin... More

Made reservations over the phone for Christmas Eve dinner three weeks in advance. Upon arrival, we were told there was no reservation in our name but they should be able to fit us in within half an hour. After waiting for over an hour and being told 3 times that it "shouldn't be much longer" I went back up to... More
