Do like beer, friendly publicans & patrons, sports on a TV? Then you'll probably like it. 1 cask beer on draught (Bear Republic Racer 5 tonight). Pliny the Elder on draught (rare for me since I don't live in NorCal). A nice cross section of local & import beers. Wish the patio wasn't crowded with smokers.

If you like craft beer and want to taste a range of beers, this is the place to go to. The staff know all about the different breweries and beer choices and are only to happy to let you taste/try. Food was good, proper bar food.

We spent an afternoon here, had lunch which was good and they had a great selection of craft beers. Reasonably priced, friendly staff and even friendlier clientele.

Had a really good laugh here, various ales , lagers & darts! Not played that in years. Went here with colleagues based in P.A. to make me feel at home! A good night out & busy.

Came here on accidentally on what was trivia night (Tuesday night). Our group of three ended up leaving because it was super hot, nearly impossible to move around the bar or hear each other because it's so tiny and narrow. That being said, this is definitely a popular and lively spot, especially among the college crowd. Might give it another... More

If you are looking for a great little pub with an amazing selection of beers, this is the place to be in downtown Palo Alto. No other bar in the area has this good of a selection of beers. Bonus: Pliny the Elder on tap (in rotation).

I've been coming to the Rose and Crown since I was 14 years old. I'm 41 now, so that tells you a little something about the longevitude (is that a word?) of this tavern. Come for beers or sit out on the little hideaway patio and devour a hamburger or fish n' chips. I think they have the best burger... More

A bit off the beaten path it is a little tricky to find. It's worth the search though. A nice beer selection, good food at a reasonable price, and a pub atmosphere.

I love to hangout here for drinks when I am in South Bay. The crowd is great. The beer is perfect. The outside wooden benches makes it perfect for an afternoon drink place too.

Think about it... the folks tending the bar use the same toilet and wash up sink as you'll find available to yourself. It's gross. But this place is great. I wouldn't order food from here for the observation noted, but I love this place for a beer. New to Palo Alto? Come here. Have a local beer. I just don't... More
