They don't honor/use Open Table correctly. Two families here at Stanford searched Open Table for an Italian place with available seating for 6. Spalti indicated seating was available. Made the reservation for 30 mins later and drove over. No seats available at all. Staff member said "yeah well there's nothing open so you'll just have to wait". There was nowhere... More

Looking for a quiet place for lunch near Stanford. This small eatery is subtle reminder of Northern Italy. Decorated nicely. The menu looks good. The polenta is light and delicate with porcini mushrooms. Good start. The veal scallopini was blah and portions of everything here are very small. Did not try dessert solely because of the bland entree served. Service... More

A colleague and I were treated to lunch at Spalti, and what a wonderful lunch it was! Had heard about the restaurant, but never had the opportunity to visit. So when I learned that's where we were going, I knew I had high expectations ... and the expectations were met in every way.. Great food, service, decor, etc. A win/win/win... More

We love to go to this restaurant when we want a leisurly dinner, with good wine and light Italian food. I love the vealparmegiana...with white wine...mmmmm so good. The tiramisu is to die for. The staff are very attentive, popping up when you need them, and laying low when you are nattering. We love to celebrte birthdays here, and they... More

I must preface my review, saying, Her Ladyships mother, was from Northern Italy, so "she who MUST BE obeyed," spent a lot of time in dining in North Italy. Consider myself luck, because, she cooks Italian, British and American dishes at home, so she does know her way around Northern Italian cuisine. Were on time for our reservations, party of... More

Large table for a business lunch. I saw only good dishes, with the exception of the salmon salad -with far too much arugula. I had an excellent sola fish with fine sauce and vegetables. Pleasant place indeed.

We love this place because the food is quite good, but the place doesn't take itself too seriously and is NOT pretentious. When most restaurants in Palo Alto are full to bursting with customers, we somehow always manage to get a table here and are never disappointed.

I didn't realize Palo Alto had comfort food places, but this seems to be one. In a city with a meaningful Italian dining scene (Chicago, for example) this place would just close. But it seems to have a fairly loyal following of people who aren't that interested in their food. The wines are crazy expensive - they blow past the... More

What a nice spot for a quiet dinner. The service was very good, as were the food and the wine list. They take reservations, which has become more unusual in the Bay Area, so that's also really nice. Though I will almost always prefer Palo Alto Sol across the street, even if we have to wait for a table, if... More

My family being in the fine-dining Italian restaurant business, I have very high standards for Italian food- regarding it's quality, that it is traditional, etc. Before trying Spalti, La Strada had been my favorite in PA, but now Spalti owns the crown. Their carpaccio is fantastic, and the penne spalti finds a great balance between providing plenty of meat but... More
