The wait staff promptly greeted and seated me during lunch hour on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant was dark with vaulted ceilings. Ordered the Max's Rueben with Corned Beef - the sandwich had a larger percentage of sauerkraut to actual meat. The menu notes on the front cover that a small fee will be added to your bill... More

Near Stanford Hospital a welcome retreat from the the beeping iv machines. Good drinks, home made potatoes chips, and mammoth onion rings. Not to mention heaping sized Reubens this Jewish inspired family owned restaurant features chicken pot pie, matzo ball soup and a number of other comfort foods. The prices may seem a bit high but the high quality and... More

Visited Max's recently for their special Rosh Hashanah menu. Food was just ok for the price. Portions not as large as they used to be. Surprised they close at 8pm on a Tuesday nite. Service was very good.

After shopping at the Stanford mall, we were craving for an adult beverage and some bar bites. The only place we can think of is Max's. This restaurant has been here forever . They've been pretty consistent. We sat at the bar and ordered an old fashioned, amaretto sour and some sweet potato fries. Their Amaretto sour is served on... More

Her Ladyship and I, go the mall, to walk around, get some exercise, while viewing the incredible landscaping. We catch a coffee next to Max's, then go off shopping, etc., and then back to Max's. We've been here for dinner with friends and family, seated inside and out, but prefer outside, (reminds us a bit of France), when we're on... More

Advise not to go during busy times. Very loud. Food is average. Service was slow. Prices high for lunch. Parking ok at times in big lot. Have club card but never win.

I had not been to Max's is over 10 years but had many fond memories of after-work gatherings, family dinners and nights out with friends both at the Palo Alto and San Francisco locations. During a trip to California, a friend and I decided to meet for dinner in Palo Alto and Max's was our old "go to" spot. I... More

While shopping in the mall, my son, his friend and myself ate here for lunch. We had mixed feelings about the food, but for the most part - we enjoyed it. I got the club sandwich and it was average. My son had the chicken melt and we thought it was really good. His friend got the pork sliders and... More

Hadn't been to Max's in awhile, and I won't be going back. They changed their menu since last time I was there, and really raised the prices. I paid $16.5 for a patty melt. A friend and I went last Wednesday. We both ordered the french onion soup ($8.50 for small and $10.50 for large), which wasn't very good. It... More

We had been here before, a long time ago, so it was a pleasant surprise to see that it continues to be an excellent place. We enjoyed several salads and sandwiches. Desserts are highly recommeded. Service was very good as well.
