While this is a chain, it benefits from what chains do best, consistency. Great selection that changes from time to time. good drink selection and thoughtful service.

For me, eating indoors in this restaurant is a no-no. There's a smell of fish that I don't like. But sitting at the patio, open air, and the exhaust from cars etc. mask the odors. The food is ok, but nothing to write home about. It's affordable and good.

Went out for a few drinks on a Friday evening in the popular South Pasadena and ended up at Kabuki. We have been here several times over the years. Given that Pasadena can be rather upscale in terms of prices, we got a table very quickly and service was fun and friendly. 3 of us went for the teriyaki combo... More

We went to kabukis' for lunch and all four of us were satisfied with our meals. We had sushi, a combo plate and tried to types of poké-bowls with brown rice. The price was reasonable and our bill total was 71$

An average Americanized Japanese restaurant. Seems well liked by customers however food is average at best. I'd rather not return. Try Sushiya on Altadena/Foothill for better sushi (and cheaper beer). Other than that it is a typical chain Japanese restaurant with mediocre food

We were walking down the Old Pasadena when my eyes caught an interesting serving of bed slices over hot stone. Japanese serving needs to satisfy not only our tongue but also our eyes, this indeed serves both. The Ishiyaki Hot Stone Grill worths the try, it is served fresh and the wagyu beef is so juicy, be careful not to... More

Agreed the Brussels sprouts were the best we ordered but even they were just okay. The mixed tempura was not great. They breaded the shrimp, unrecoverable because they were long straight pieces. I Bit into a tail!!! Vegetables were lacking flavor. Tuna roll was bland and oysters were "fishy" ? Old. Service was good. Food is mediocre. I won't be... More

Kabuki has a full menu, with all the standard fare, but they also offer an eclectic mix of small plates, ideally for sampling and sharing. Items such as fire cracker tuna, yellowtail carpaccio, miso black cod and Tokyo steamed bun, just to name a few are fun and interesting. The drinks menu is good too. A nice spot for a... More
