Had Sunday experience arrived at 10:30AM, took half hour to get menu. Asked if we could have lunch at 11? yes, but then had to get own menu, ordered the special before 11 drink specials, had to ask twice. Friendly yes, efficient no. Food was only average. Nothing worth mentioning. Don't go in if you are in a hurry, no... More

So why the low score? The prices! I've had food this good at hole in the wall diners, bars open for lunch and other nonentities on the East Coast - and paid about 50% less. For those prices the food should have been superlative but it was merely fine It had the tacky decor of a catering hall in Queens.

We came here to have a dinner with two of my friends because we got a GroupOn coupon on dinner for four. The food was a bit greasy but was okay. When we paid for our bill, the manager didn't accept our coupon and claimed that we only had three people. I went to a lot of other restaurants and... More

Was at the Barnes and Noble across the parking lot from this restaurant, so decided to stop by for lunch. A little odd that the seater's podium is about half-way into the restaurant, but once we found it, they seated us quickly. Server was similarly quick to get us a glass of ice water and take our order. We took... More

So the two stars are for the French onion soup. It was fantastic. That's where the good ends. My mom order the soup and salad combo. She had requested the Ruben, expecting to get a Ruben. Instead she got a pastrami. Waitress said well they are almost the same thing. It's a understanding

This part of the chain has a slower vibe than some of the other Max's, basically suburban-retired clientele, with some hungry commuters as this is a block from the CalTrain station. Menu derived from a classic NY deli has classic Reubens, pastrami or corned beef sandwiches, corned beef hash, meat loaf, roast chicken, matzoh ball soup, slaws, potato salads, etc.... More

Max's used to be one of our favorites, particularly the ones where the wait staff would sometimes sing a song (not this one in Redwood City). This time, not so much. The service was not up to par, and we waited for several minutes before we got a waitress, and then several more minutes before the bread showed up. I... More

We were here with family and had so many menu choices. They accommodated 1 in our group with serving lunch at breakfast time. The prices are kind of steep, but for the quality and taste of the food it was well worth it.

I am here at Max's restaurant in Redwood City having breakfast with my Father and ordered some toast with my eggs and bacon. However the waiter told me that they no longer serve toast only biscuits. When I ask why he replied that they felt making toast was to much of an inconvenience for them and that by offering only... More
