My daughter & I visited Old Town Sacramento last week & had lunch at Rio City Cafe. We had a great seat by the window & near a fireplace as it was cold that day. The food was good. The service was excellent as they let us sit & visit & enjoy the view.

Had dinner tonight and enjoyed it all. Short ribs were excellent and extremely tender. Others had steal and salmon both of which were excellent. Our server was very friendly and look very good care of us. We will be back.

Terrible food for which they overcharge. We had a very nice server who was doing his best to make the experience more palatable (pardon the pun) but nothing could save the watery jambalaya that tasted like old fish in a bottled BBQ sauce. Horrible. Everyone else's meal was equally abysmal.

A group of us ate here New Year's Day. No problem making a reservation and they were ready for us. Food was delicious, waitstaff was attentive, view of the river was awesome. It was a slower dining experience, but our group of 9 was very happy with this choice.

We enjoy visiting this restaurant when we are looking for a place with a good menu, excellent service and a nice view of the river. It is in Old Sacramento so parking can be a pain, but it's worth it. We mostly do brunch or dinner, but their lunches are good too.

We went with a group of 8 - half kids, sat on the covered patio which was pretty. All the food needs better attention. Cocktails and appetizers weren't great. Sourdough bread w/ cheese and balsamic special was too rich (couldn't taste the bread), smoke trout spread too horseradish-y. Cocktails too sweet. Ordered trout as main and bottom of fish was... We had lunch as a family. An excellent jambalaya loaded with fresh seafood and andouille sausage and nicely seasoned. The marinated skirt steak sandwich however was disappointing. The meat was flavorful but tough as shoe leather and room temp. There was very little meat in the first place. Not a good deal for $17. Now the bloody marys we started... More

My wife and I love this restaurant. We travel to Sacramento frequently to see friends and stop at the Rio City often for lunch or an early dinner. The food is delicious (we particularly love their burgers), the service is friendly and efficient and the views of the river from their deck are amazing. There is no better place along... More

I was having a Birthday dinner last night and there was a special Christmas event in Old Town, so there was a lot of Children here for the event understandably. However a restaurant hostess or host should not seat diners where there is another chose to not be seated around children who are being children. There were children allowed to... More
