We ate dinner here after a day of wine tastings in Napa Valley. It's the #2 restaurant according to the ratings, but I don't think it really rates quite that highly in my mind. The food here was very much hit and miss. If it was a hit, it was outstanding. If it was a miss, it was probably a... More

Good place to go for a lunch. We had hamburgers, and salads. At lunch time, the restaurant was more than half empty, so it lacked proper atmosphere.

We decided on Market from a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at in St. Helena (Wine Country Inn). Drinks were great, we had the adult mac-n-cheese, ribs and pumpkin pie for dessert. We left full and happy!

Lovely place for a romantic night, but not well suited for families. We are adventurous eaters and will try anything. However, I think the food here was too rich for the kids, and left them a bit queasy. It might also have been the long wait for food, so I will reserve that as opinion. It did take quite some... There were 5 of us for dinner. Each of us ordered a different meal and only 1 out of 5 of us was happy with their meal. The ribs were overcooked and tasted pretty blah - like they had been sitting around for awhile. The salmon was a very small portion and tasted fishy. The fried chicken and prime rib... More

Bustling place in the heart of downtown St Helena. A bit chaotic in the front, no place to really stand while waiting for a table and one guy was handling everything (check in, phone, seating). Once seated, it took quite a while for a waiter to visit. However, once we got started, the lunch was really very good. Our server... More

Had a quick lunch here and it was outstanding! They have an excellent wine list and the decor was inviting! Right in the heart of St. Helena if you want to shop before or after.

Friendly environment with fresh ingredients and well presented dishes. It is on the Main Street and one would think that just tourists drop by. We ran into many locals that have made this their spot for lunch, dinner and drinks. Try the calamari. A good happy hour menu for small bites and drinks.

I recently arrived for a 3 months stay in St Helena. My wife and daughter joined me for dinner last night. After reading reviews, we decided to give the Market a shot. We were very glad we did. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome and taken care of. This continued throughout our meal. Even though... More

Pros - Very good food - the swordfish was delicious! And the Butter Scotch Pudding (which I wouldn't have ordered if our waiter, Alfie, hadn't sold us on it) was scrumptious! - Ambiance - very pretty and cozy - Service - Excellent - Alfie was informative

Laurie, we are so happy to hear you enjoyed our time with us. Thank you for taking time to note your experience. Alfie takes pride in knowing our food inside and out—and you can’t go wrong with the butterscotch pudding. We’ll look forward to seeing you again. Thanks, Ernesto, Owner More

Market Restaurant offers an elegant yet comfortable dining experience. Located on Main Street in St. Helena, the historical building features exposed stone walls and an antique bar dating back to the turn of the century. The menu features American classics with a fresh seasonal approach and the wine list offers a diverse selection of wines to complement Chef's creations, with an emphasis on wines from local Napa Valley vintners. In addition to a locally inspired and reasonably priced wine list, Market never charges corkage.
