Owned by a gentleman from Connecticut, the Giant Grinder is the real deal. They know what a grinder is and they know how to make it. Be sure to ask them to do it well toasted so the sausage and meatballs get hot!! I try to remember to ask them to add mushrooms. It's an Eastern sausage and peppers grinder... More

What a terrific place. The owner is from Windsor Locks, Connecticut and has had a number of grinder shops in various places. He's had this place in San Luis Obispo for over ten (10) years. Their most popular grinder is the "half and half"...half Italian sausage and half meatball with marina sauce and provolone cheese. It's not served hot enough... More

The Owner and Staff are amazing and the grinders were even better. It's a small Delicious, limited seating inside but a nice patio with several umbrella tables make up for it. It's on a corner, hard to see but it is worth the adventure to find it. The grinders come in 3 sizes, with several FRESH roll choices. You have... More

I found Giant Grinder Shop quite by accident...but a great accident it was. I tried their most popular sandwich...the half meatball/half sausage with peppers and marinara sauce and I had it on their Dutch crunch bread. It's a full 9" grinder...not a puny 6" and it's packed with wonderful Italian flavor. I loved it. I'm looking forward to my next... More

I had a hot, spicy pastrami and the sandwich was good. It was an normal size sandwich, definitely not giant, puffed up with lots of ice burg lettuce. The pastrami was tasty and the spicy was definitely there! The crew is very nice and very helpful, and every sandwich is definitely custom made. Good ingredients, Very clean and a good... More

I regularly eat at all of the sandwich shops in SLO and enjoy every one of them. What makes the Giant Grinder Shop different is their more traditional feel on italian style subs. I have never had a sandwich in Italy, nor have a I had a New York/New Jersey sandwich. But you get the feeling that what they making... More

I eat at the Giant Grinder at least once a week, maybe twice. My favorites are the spicey pastrami, turkey pesto and the norcal combo, delish! Always friendly service and great prices. I'm ordering a NorCal combo now, yummy!!!

The East Coast Grinder is awesome and so is the half meatball/half sausage. I find myself going here all the time for lunch. They do not skimp on size or quality. I usually eat half the sandwich for lunch and the other half for dinner, though I admit sometimes I eat the whole thing.

We live in San Luis but in a different part of town so it took us a long time to find this gem. When we went in to try it out we were greeted so cheerfully by the guy behind the counter that we HAD to hear his description of ALL the sandwiches. He was fabulous in his salesmanship because... More

Well, they call them grinders only because the owners are originally from Connecticut, but their East Coast Combo sandwich is truly a Philadelphia/South Jersey style hoagie and yes, it is awesome even if it is on French bread instead of Italian. And their meatball sandwiches, yep, they are awesome too. I can't seem to get by these two items to... More
