Cute secluded restaurant located between busy commercial and residential street, friendly staff and good food execution with plenty vegetarian choices.

There is definitely a reason this restaurant earned one Michelin Star. Each of the dishes is unique and contains pieces of heaven. As always with these kind of dishes it is not so much of the quantity but more of the quality. Although it is a highly esteemed restaurant its prices are fair. Spoil yourself with an evening at All... More

Did you know that there is a Michelin starred restaurant in San Mateo? It's located in an attractive 1906 Victorian house nestled behind other buildings fronting on El Camino Real just across the street from Safeway. Frankly I had never seen the restaurant before going there for the first time; it is a hidden gem. You are immediately transported to... More

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. In fact, the meals here have been some of our most memorable dining experiences ever. The restaurant is located in a clapboard house tucked away from El Camino Real and the ambience is very intimate. The chef, Sachin Chopra, is Indian so he uses the Indian spice palate subtly... The food here is not as Indian as it was during my meal several years ago. Then it was too Indian for the work group. Ha! This time, basically the same guys and gals, but the menu was definitely more fusion and all left happy. Dessert were frankly a bit foo-foo or is it frou-frou.

This is very pricey and not what we had expected. Our sons gave us a $100 gift certificate and we had another $100 to the bill. Just one glass of wine. The service was impeccable and the meal was very good. This is not an Indian restaurant. A young (30something) came in and read the menu and then left. Maybe... More

Has been our go to place for special occasions. An intimate venue which is often booked up for days in advance. It's a cross between continental and Indian Fusion food. Meets my bang/buck ratio easily.

Having dined in fine restaurants in more than 4 countries, we had an underwhelming experience at All Spice. We had read about this restaurant's ratings and decided to walk in. We asked if there was room, and the maitre d' checked and found seating was available. We then got a condescending comment about how we should make a reservation next... More

Had heard amazing things about All Spice and maybe wish I hadn't. I had really high hopes and expectations. Ordered the steak and it needed salt..and seasoning in general. Lovely starters of shishito peppers and a seated tuna appetizer. My friend had the lamb and that was awesome. Flavorful and right spice and heart. Great service. I feel I've had... More

so this is our second visit, we were expecting indian fusion, which was our previous experience........this was not the case, there was only one indian dish, the rest was modern Californian. I feel that All Spice has "dumbed down", the food was all well presented and tasted good, the wine list was short and less interesting than originally. they have... More

Description
San Mateo’s most exciting restaurant is All Spice, an eclectic, contemporary eatery from Executive Chef Sachin Chopra. Chef Chopra expertly blends the freshness of Californian ingredients with Indian spices to create an entirely new style of cuisine, at once light, familiar and warmly exotic. All Spice is proud to have been awarded a Michelin star, a distinction reserved for cuisine of the very best quality and consistency. The restaurant is housed in a converted Victorian with beautiful hardwood floors, a fireplace and a variety of architectural details. Each of three intimate dining rooms is decorated in bold, shimmering hues accented with gold. Thirty seats are scattered throughout. Professional service and a thoughtful, moderately priced wine list complement Chopra's dishes. To book reservations for parties of 5 or more, please call the restaurant directly.
