This restaurant is the fancier of the two Cuban restaurants in San Mateo. The appetizer portions were plentiful but I was very disappointed in the yellow rice and chicken. It was overpriced for the amount of food served and on top of it they served black beans with the yellow rice - really? Black beans over yellow rice... that sounds... More

Beans and plantains and rice and beer. What could be better? Great service. Lovely little spot. Lots of small plates and larger plates as well. Grilled salmon is pretty spectacular too. Prices are ok. Nice spot.

My wife and I have come back several times and wonder when the crowds are gonna find this place. The food deserves more than a smattering of customers. Good Food, Great value... Several of the dishes burst with new flavors which pull you back again and again. Good Cuban food in downtown San Mateo? YES !!! last words: get a... More

We ate here a week ago using a restaurant.com gift card. This place is in a block of restaurants, so you have to look for it. It is worth finding. The staff was attentive and helped us decide which entrees to try. The pan-seared salmon (Filete de Salmon con Salsa Verde) was fresh and cooked perfectly. The Arroz con Pollo... More

We attended an event nearby an were waging out commute traffic. Not quite as good as our first Cuban meal in Florida, this small place is an excellent choice. Each dish was flavorful and unique. Total tab including tip was $50. Enough leftover for a second meal. We will return.

Went there and the menu was not very creative. Papa Rellena and chicken wings came out in three minutes. The food must have been microwaved and tasted terrible. The only food food was the Testones. Not a huge selection of authentic Cuban food. The waitress left her shift in the middle of the meal without telling us. I had to... More

Stopped for dinner on a Friday and had beers and lots of tapas to share. Calamari is fresh and lightly battered, ceviche is huge and so tasty, rice and beans is huge and tasty too. Salmon dinner came with rice and beans and plantains and enough for two more. Good prices and service. Will definitely be back. Good value for... More

Located in the downtown area of San Mateo(112 S B St San Mateo, CA 94401); the food is cuban, caribbean. Its small from looking outside, but once you are in the restaurant, the environment gives you a feeling of being in an island atmosphere. Our favorite dish: paella-- so good, flavorful and delicious, sangria is soooo good. • all the... More

Yummy! We were looking for a fun tapas place nearby and stumbled upon Cha Cha Cha. The restaurant seemed very quiet during the dinner hour but we went for it anyway. The small plates were good but nothing exceptional. The camarones el ajillo had no real flavor at all. However the Sangria and the Paella was absolutely fantastic. The paella... More

This little gem is fun for a quick date. Not your white tablecloth date, however, as it's very casual. Close in to movies and a lot of the action in San Mateo. The food is a nice update on many Cuban favorites. Not all spicy, by the way, so have no fear if you aren't used to Latin cuisines. Some... More
