A friend had told me about this place as a must do, so we did. I went for the ice cream and my partner went for the soda. Everything was fabulous, just a shame about the grumpy staff member who went on his break after he served us

These guys, tucked in next to the carousel, are the hardest working soda mongers I've ever seen. They're dressed as old-time soda jerks and are hopping around making great libations and treats. If you're on Santa Monica Pier, don't pass by without checking them out.

These jerks really know their soda and treats. Reminds me of Ice Cream Pop Shops back in the good ol' days. I definitely recommend the ice cream. Go try it if you're in the area. You won't regret it.

I had to try the Graveyard Shake, it was good. Pretty much a coffee/ espresso shake. My stepdad had the orange freeze, also yummy. small little throwback at the pier and very fun.

Good Ice Cream and reasonable prices. Not much more to say. If you are in the area I would highly recommend you getting a scoop or two or three.

A visit to Soda Jerks definitely enhances the Santa Monica Pier experience. My husband couldn't resist a malted milk shake - a milk shake with added malt powder. I warned him that Soda Jerks might not have malt to prepare his 'malted' chocolate shake and then I went ahead to watch the fishermen. I knew he had proved me wrong... More

The sign saying hand dipped ice cream brought me in. Fosselman's ice cream with no preservatives is served and my chocolate sundae was wonderful. I had to add a hand pumped soda pop to top off my order. So good!

We thought our desserts were good, and the servers were very pleasant. It was also nice to sit at the bar and watch the carousel go around, while we ate our treats. But if you're thinking of going after dinner, be forewarned that it closes up early (I think it was maybe 7 pm?).

We visited this establishment a few times in the summer of 2015. I usually ended up with a kiddie size ice cream and my husband with a cone. We really enjoyed our ice cream and I think the price is fairly reasonable considering it is on the SM Pier. Service was fairly quick too, bonus! One little bummer though, I... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
